Jericho Rosales had wanted son to be an athlete

The actor admits that he didn't want 17-year-old son Santino to be in showbiz

1 Jan – Although his son is now a model, Jericho Rosales recently admitted that showbiz was not what he had in mind for 17-year-old son, Santino.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the actor who spoke to Boy Abunda on his talk show recently, shared that he wanted his son to be an athlete and be involved in the Olympics.

"I have a dream for him and it's not show business. I said I want him to be an Olympian because he loves sports," said Rosales.

The actor added that he doesn't want Santino to have the crazy life that comes with showbiz, and instead hopes for the teenager to focus on his studies.

"So, showbiz was not an option," he said.

On the other hand, when asked how he felt being a father to a 17-year-old, Rosales admitted that he would sometimes find it weird when Santino's friends call him "uncle".

"I treat him like a friend. But this here's a funny story. People always mistaken us as brothers. Then one time, there's this lady who asked, "Is this your son?". Santino went "Yes! Finally! Somebody said I'm his son!". We laughed," he said.

Rosales also sang praises for Santino, calling him a great kid and "a solid gentleman".
