More than T.OOO applications

ident, reports.
According to a news release
from the Lamesa Daily Reporter,
Allen, County Judge Tom Gar-
rard of Dawson County and Clude
Wells of Tahoka will fly to Wash-
ington, D. C. Monday, June 19,
to submit the applications to the

tion in an attempt to get funds
loaned the cooperative for this
fiscal year.
’“Recently Hockley County far-
mers voted to join with the Poka-
Lambro Rural Telephone Cooper-
ative in seeking rural telephones
for the county. ,
Allen, chairman of the cooper-
ative’s board of directors, said
that the Poka-Lambro group will
continue to accept applications
indefinitely; but pointed out that
those received now will be sub-
mitted during the next fiscal year.
The areas which may be serv-
ed by the cooperative have as
yet not been fuly designated.
Maying the area is Price and

TEC To I nterview
A representative of the
Employment Commission is slat-
ed to be in 'Levelland-today at
the Hockley County courthouse
from 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. to
interview persons in connection
with unemployment claims, em-
ployment and employes.
Fred Presley, TEC representa-
tive who was here last Thursday,
said that he beleived farmers of
this area would have little trouble
this year in securing hands to
work in the young cotton crop.
He has set up his tent again this
year on the vacant lot north of
Ranson Brothers store.
The part-time office at the
courthouse, just inside the east
entrance, is open each Thursday

“Youth Welfare” was discussed
by Luke Roberson of Lubbock,
a state youth development work-
er, at the Junior Chamber of Com-
merce Monday.
Roberson stressed the need of
organizing local youth develop-
ment councils, with various or-
ganizations of each city working
with the group. He said that state
help for such a council would
be available for Levelland if it
is felt the city needs it.
D. R. Cass introduced the
speaker.
Ray Patterson was named chair-
man of the house numbering com-
mittee along with Wyatt Hanks,
Jr., Al West and Earl Champion.
Dr. Bob J. Roberson was in-
