A hard landing by a private jet at St. Simons Island Airport Thursday afternoon prompted the closure of a runway.
An Embraer jet carrying eight people, including the pilots, arriving from White Plains, New York, encountered difficulties during its landing at around 2:36 p.m. and executed a hard landing after the landing gear collapsed on the runway, a statement from Glynn County said.
