VISAKHAPATNAM: The
Visakhapatnam airport ranked third in the 1.5 to 5 million passenger footfall range among airports in the country. The rankings were awarded in pursuance of an
assessment conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI) of 34 airports under the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
According to the
Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers’ Association (AP-ATA), QCI had conducted an assessment on December 11, 2018 and the Visakhapatnam airport came out third with an overall score of 78.9% on the basis of various parameters.
The Chandigarh airport ranked first with a score of 83% and the Mangalore airport came out second with a score of 79.5%.
Vice president of AP-ATA, DS Varma said, “The airports were assessed area-wise and with pre-defined parameters such as trolley management, navigation/signage facility, solid waste management and car parking. The data analysed was further compiled to understand the airport’s performance on different parameters.”
