LA JOLLA, Calif. - University of California San Diego swimming student-athlete Reilly Boyt has finally completed her long and arduous road to Rio.

The rising junior out of Fort Collins, Colo. (Poudre HS), arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 2016 Paralympic Games, with the Team USA swimming contingent this past Friday, Sept. 2. She was in Houston, Texas, since Aug. 25, for processing and training camp at the University of Houston. The Games run Sept. 7-18.

Boyt is entered in the 100-meter backstroke, 400 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley in Rio, in the S6, S6, SB6 and SM6 classification, respectively. She is the American record-holder in the S6 100 back (1:38.67), from her gold-medal-winning effort in her last of six swims at the three-day U.S. Paralympic Trials in Charlotte, N.C., on July 2. The 100 breast, however, is arguably her best event.

The first of two preliminary heats of her section of the 100 back on the Games' first morning on Thursday, Sept. 8, is slated for 5:38 a.m. PT. Rio is four hours ahead of the Pacific Time Zone.

Boyt will later swim in prelims of the 200 IM (3:23.00 qualifying time) on Monday, Sept. 12 (7:30 a.m. PT), the 400 free (6:20.56) on Tuesday, Sept. 13 (5:46 a.m. PT), and the 100 breast (1:45.69) on Thursday, Sept. 15 (5:55 a.m. PT). It was unknown at press time, whether she would be selected for any relays. Prelims begin at 5:30 a.m. PT and finals at 1:30 p.m. PT each day through Saturday, Sept. 17.

Boyt is in her 200 IM, 400 free and 100 breast events with fellow Colorado native and friend Sophia Herzog as the only two Americans in the field, and is the lone Team USA entrant in the S6 100 back.

The competition will take place at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium, a temporary structure erected solely for the Rio Olympics last month and Rio Paralympics.

Though her first as a competitor, Rio will actually mark the second Paralympics that Boyt has attended. She was an alternate for the 2012 London Games, and was present in England as a spectator and supporter. Boyt went through her first Paralympic Trials as just a 12-year-old ahead of the 2008 Beijing Games. She was officially named to her first U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team on July 3 in Charlotte, N.C., following her third attempt.

"I'm really stoked to finally be in Rio!," exclaimed Boyt via text on Sunday. "Competition is (three) days away and the excitement is really beginning to amp up. I'm ready to compete and make this eight-year-long dream a reality."

Boyt will take part in the Opening Ceremony this Wednesday, Sept. 7 (2:15 p.m. PT), which will air on tape delay on NBCSN from 4-7 p.m. PT. NBCSN will feature an unprecedented amount of Paralympics coverage of approximately 70 hours (check local listings), with more available through the NBC Sports app. Most reliable and comprehensive, however, specifically for swimming prelims, should be the live streams at TeamUSA.org and www.paralympic.org.
