Through the MOCCA project, Don Alfonso has tripled his cacao production and hopes to grow by a further 40 percent next year. The MOCCA project, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food for Progress Program and led by TechnoServe, is being implemented in Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. 💉 World Immunization Week underscores the importance of vaccination as a vital health strategy that improves lives, particularly in areas where conflict and economic challenges leave families highly susceptible to diseases. Corus organization IMA World Health is the lead partner in USAID MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience, which works to strengthen quality maternal, newborn, and child health, voluntary family planning, and reproductive health service delivery in fragile settings, including the DRC. Thanks to MOMENTUM’s efforts in North Kivu, DRC, from October 2022 to December 2023, 65,444 children who had either not received any vaccines or were under-vaccinated in North Kivu were identified and vaccinated. According to the World Health Organization, there were approximately 249 million cases of malaria reported worldwide in 2022. The DRC accounted for 12% of global malaria cases and 11% of deaths, making it the second-most affected country globally. Corus organization IMA World Health has been working to fight malaria and improve health outcomes for millions in the DRC for over two decades by supporting medication and long-lasting insecticide-treated bed net (LLIN) distribution and social mobilization efforts. With support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, alongside local partner SANRU, we've distributed nearly 20.5 million LLINs across the DRC since 2019, demonstrating a significant impact in the region’s fight against malaria.
