Slapy Reservoir is a dam reservoir on the Vltava River near the village of Slapy in the Central Bohemian Region. It is the sixth largest dam in the Czech Republic in terms of area (11,626 km2). Its depth is 58 m and the water level is located at an altitude of 271 meters. The dam was built as part of the so-called Vltava cascade in 1949–1955. The Slapy hydroelectric power plant was put into operation in 1955–1956. 3 Kaplan turbines with an output of 3 × 48 MW are installed in the power plant. The power plant is able to reach full power in 136 s. The dam is 260 m long and 60 m high and is based on a bedrock.
