Description:

pp. [i-iv], 6-71. 12mo., measuring 5.5" x 8.5". Plain, twice-stapled covers. Black-and-white portrait frontispieces of Nilus, and Marsden accompanied with a brief biographical sketch of each. Single faint private ownership stamp to the lower front cover, contents without blemish with bright, clean, and unmarked pages and firm, stapled binding. Overall, very good+. Scarce in commerce in edition, and state. Originally serialized in 1903 in the Russian black-hundredist newspaper, Znamya ("The Banner") by Russian writer, mystic, and notorious anti-semite Serge Nilus, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion is considered to be the most widely disseminated and influential work of anti-semitism in recent history. Though exposed as a forgery in 1921 by the British newspaper, The Times and later the German Frankfurter Zeitung in 1924, its influence would continue unabated among white supremacists and anti-Jewish groups of all stripes (individuals, governments, officials, institutions, etc.), with translations rendered into at least sixteen languages. Divided into 24 protocols, the text purports to present as fact an alleged meeting of Jewish leaders with various secret plans to control media, manipulate economies, and ultimately ensure global domination. While no publisher, nor printing date is indicated, the present offering is most likley an American reprint, and highly likely to be based upon the 1923 British printing of the same title. See Singerman 0147; Victor E. Marsden "Protocols of the Wise Men of Zion" Protocols of the Meetings of the Learned Elders of Zion Translated from the Russian Text by Victor E. Marsden (London: The Britons, 1923), wherein he states that "The Marsden translation has become the standard English Text". No holdings with the present pagination, or characteristics could be locted in OCLC and/or the relevant institutional holdings. Seller Inventory # 6385
