Interventional Effect of Nanosilver Paint on Fungal Load of Indoor Air in a Hospital Ward2021 •
Hospital ward environments contain various types of microorganisms, in which fungal agents are one of the main contaminants that may cause hospital-acquired infections. Regarding this, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of nanosilver paint on reducing fungal contaminants of indoor air in an educational, research, and treatment center. Two rooms in the hematology ward were selected. One room was painted using usual paint (control room) and the other room was painted with paint containing nanosilver particles (experimental room). One hundred and twelve samples were collected using active (Anderson BioSampler) and passive (settle plate or open plate) air sampling techniques. The samples were incubated for 3–7 days at 35°C, and the positive fungal cultures were examined according to morphological and microscopic characteristics. Following active sampling, the mean and standard deviation of the number of colony-forming units (CFU/m3) of fungi colonies in the experime...

Review Article Nanotechnology Applications in Interior Design of Hospitals2019 •
Interior finishes are very important aspects of the healthcare facilities environment. Floors and walls coverings are major elements that play a role to keep a healthy environment inside spaces of hospitals. Thus, it is necessary to be the priority to the criteria of selection finishing materials during the design process. Finishing materials and its properties are considered one of the most factor impacted on the interior design at hospitals. Especially, in critical areas at hospitals need specific finishes characteristics, such as surgical, Intensive Care, Emergency, and Inpatient Units. Healthcare facilities are required special specification for interior spaces and finishing materials to prevent problems as moisture penetration, water infiltration, and the growth of mildew and mold that this is considered as some of several elements responsible for occurring Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs). This study aims to suggest the best building interior design considerations for improving the comfort and the satisfaction of healthcare patients and occupants in their working environments and to prevent the transmission of diseases in hospitals. Based on this purpose, this article set the nano-materials to evaluate it and search for its achieving that purpose. Nano-materials play an important role in hygienic design in interior spaces. In this scope, the main inquiry is that which kinds of Nano-materials or its applications are the best choices for the interior design especially in critical areas of hospitals? The goal of this study was to determine if nano-materials can be significantly effective in enhancing the interior design of healthcare facilities, by improving the performance of the finishing materials and reduce the damages and problems occurring during their life cycle. The librarian searching and tests results from nano companies labs are used to achieve this aim. It was concluded that nano-materials used in interior finishing materials are classified into two groups. One is used to solve the problems of traditional materials that contribute to the transmission of infection as they have characteristics that limit the occurrence of problems of different finishing materials that occur in hospitals and also reduce the existence of the bacteria, mold and fungi on the surface and prevent the existence of environment suitable for its growth, while the other is used in cleaning and disinfection and reduce the risks of chemicals hazards that emit harmful gases that affect human health. Thus, the use of nanotechnology helps to maintain a healthy environment in hospitals.

This study deals with a quantitative and qualitative analyze of indoor airborne microbiota and estimation of microbiological quality of indoor air in faculty's rooms during the summer semester of 2017/18 school year. The concentration of bacteria was significantly higher than the concentration of fungi. The species that belong to human skin microbiota or of environmental origin were identified. According to indoor air quality breakpoints, low to medium/high level of bacterial and fungal air contaminations was noticed.

2020. № 4. С. 00-00. Educational buildings face energy performance and indoor air quality problems as any other building. This study aims to improve indoor air quality and its impact on students' performance in educational building at Department of Architecture, Assiut University, located at the hot arid climatic zone of Egypt using nanotechnology. Also, this research focuses on the effect of nanomaterials on building's envelope features which improve indoor air quality and save energy without any compromising functional needs. To achieve the objective of the study, the research depends on the analytical method and in-field measurements (such as: carbon dioxide content, humidity, and air temperature) during the cold period of the academic year (November, December, January). The study in-field measurements reveal the main parameters affecting the overall performance of the investigated building as building envelope, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, finishing materials quality, lighting system and its effects on the energy efficiency of the educational building. Simulated data for this Educational building was calculated using computer simulation software tool «Design-Builder». This research aims to Focus on applications offered by nanomaterials that can be applied in the department of architecture building, The result obtained shows that using Nano coating for Glass and walls can improve the Indoor air temperature of the building. Assessment of Bacteria and Fungi in air from College of Applied Medical Sciences (Male) at AD, Dawadmi, Saudi Arabia2015 •
This study was conducted to learn the microbial diversity in our college environment so that we can we can develop a database of the microbial load and to have a preliminary idea of the environmental status. A total of 125 samples were collected in duplicate by open plate method from 5 different sites (Microbiology Laboratory, Classrooms, Toilets, Lift and Office rooms) at College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dawadmi was experimentally investigated during Months of October 2014 to February 2015. The number of Bacteria and fungi present in our college environment were studied by exposing Nutrient agar and Sabouraud Dextrose Agar plates for 30 minutes at different sites. The bacteria isolated were; Staphylococcus aureus, Coagulase-ve Staphylococcus, Micrococcus species and Bacillus species. The moulds isolated were Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus niger, Alternaria species and Penicillium species. The yeast belonging to Rhodotorula species was also isolated. The data collected in this study can used for further research. Although microorganisms are present in our college, the amount is within the range (61-460 CFU/m 3) which indicates a low level of contamination according to the guidelines by World Health Organization.
