LLOYD’S
MARITIME ATLAS
OF WORLD PORTS AND SHIPPING PLACES
Welcome to the fully revised 23rd edition of Lloyd's Maritime Atlas - your reference to the world's ports and shipping
places. In this edition we have completely reviewed and updated all the maps and places, to show all changes to port
names, country names and borders. New in this edition is a FREE electronic version of the atlas on CD for greater
portability. Also new is the statistical section at the front of the atlas, provided by the consultancy division of Lloyd's
Marine Intelligence Unit, to give a global snapshot of the commercial fleet in terms of its movements, characteristics
and casualties.
This atlas, which is the oldest and most distinguished maritime atlas being published today, has a unique indexing system designed for two models of enquiry. You can look up a place using either the alphabetical index or the geographical index. A userguide on page ii explains in detail how to use the geographical index, suffice to say that it enables you
to search the ports and places in the index by geographical proximity. Of course, the alphabetical index provides the
standard indexing model if preferred.
As well as the world maps, ocean maps, and regional maps in this atlas, there are larger scale detail maps for the busiest shipping areas. With full-colour used throughout, these clear and concise proprietary maps have been designed to
ensure Lloyd's Maritime Atlas provides a comprehensive and user-friendly reference to all the world's commercial
ports, as well as many smaller ports and shipping places.
In this atlas you will find precise latitude/longitude co-ordinates, major canals and river systems, weather conditions,
load line zones, major road and rail links and international airports, world and regional distance tables. This edition has
had 10 more ports added to the regional maps, and 152 port places added to the geographical index.
If you require detailed port information, Lloyd's Maritime Atlas has been designed to be used in conjunction with it's
companion product, Lloyd's List Ports of the World. Cross-referencing to the ports listed there will provide extremely detailed information on individual ports, including facilities and services. Lloyd's List Ports of the World is also available as a web-based service via www.lloydsports.com - you can buy Lloyd's List Ports of the World from
www.lloydsmiu.com
