T h e e x a c t m ic r o b ia l p o p u la tio n o f th e o c u la r s u r f a c e d e p e n d s o n th e a g e o f th e h o s t, th e g e o g ra p h ic a l lo c a tio n a n d th e c l i m a t e . 1 T h e c o n ju n c tiv a s a c is c o l o n i z e d b y b a c te ria a t b ir th a n d r e m a in s s o t h r o u g h o u t lif e w ith c h a n g e s in th e f lo r a d u e to v a r io u s f a c to r s .
