A little over an hour later, at 14:49, the aircraft took off from Brasília bound for Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, landing at 16:34.

The C-146 is the military version of the German Dornier 328 airliner. The aircraft is used to provide fast and flexible transport for USSOCOM troops, with the capacity to carry 27 passengers, four stretchers or 2,7 tons of cargo, and can be configured according to mission needs.

According to the website database planespotters.net, the 12-3040 was received by the USAF in June 2013 and before serving in the US Air Force the aircraft belonged to the Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC).

Today, SNC is a partner of Embraer, and assembles the A-29 Super Tucano in the USA. The USAF has at least 20 units of the plane which, according to the Air Force, has been in continuous use since October 2011.
