Tim Sweeney

About the author

Tim Sweeney is the author of Yank Down Under: A Drink and A look Around Australia, a hilarious travelogue that recounts his adventures and escapades living in the country for three years. He has a gift for letting the reader feel as if he/she is riding shotgun as he observes and relays comical stories about the places he visited and the characters he met on his Aussie adventure. Readers say Sweeney "writes like no one reads his stuff; just what falls out of his head and onto the page." Others call him a cross between Bill Bryson and Anthony Bourdain, with a looser tongue and a habit of stopping in a few more pubs. Sweeney began his career as a newspaper journalist in Colorado, where he won the award for Best Column Writing from the Colorado Press Association at the age of twenty-three. Born and raised in Massachusetts, he graduated from Eckerd College in Florida, then lived most of his adult life in California, Australia and the French Alps. He’s been a magazine editor, a radio presenter and an advertising copywriter. He’s also studied improv and written for a number of magazines including Skiing, SKI, Powder, Pebble Beach, Palm Desert and Palm Springs Life. Beyond writing, he's hosted a YouTube series and dabbled in podcasting. Yank Down Under is his first book.
