BGSF rivers altitude issue

Hi,

Does anyone else have this issue at BGSF(default P3D airport).

Hi Gerard,

I checked it and I can confirm there is an elevation issue. I checked it without addons and I checked it with ORBX global and LC NA enabled. With almost the same results. Perhaps with ADE you can fix it. I don't have enough experience with ADE. Just scratched the surface of it.

Wikipedia has a good picture of the airport. The elevated lake is little below the airfield, not above.

That's a great find. I wonder, why I didn't find it myself, only the mesh scenery of the same guy.

I did not have to add a flatten. This guy made the whole terrain. There is a CVX file already, so no need to create your own background. There was some bleed through of default scenery buildings and therefore I had to replace the xxxx_Airport.bgl files with new ones. 

I added the scener\world\scenery files in a separate directory and add it to scenery.cfg just above the base sceneries and the QeqqataX scenery on top of my sceneries. That works fine.

Also to mention, i left the mesh I mentioned above installed.

I will upload the airport.bgl files and the original scenery can be found also on flightsim.com, which allows a faster download I think.

Obviously our systems are different !
I have openLC North America which includes Greenland, and FSGUNG2020 mesh.

If I use the original package just replacing the 3 afcad by yours, I get the following

I also have openLC North America but never heard it includes Greenland. I only hear Trump wanted to buy it, but that's another story. So when you first started this thread you had a pretty similar issue like me.

I then found the mesh from Ulrik Motzfeld and added this.

That fixed it halfway and then you came up with the scenery from Ulrik Motzfeld

qeqqata-x-scenery

That alone was working pretty well in regards of the flatten. You said you made your own flatten, which is not needed. What's needed is new exclusions and some corrections to make AI land. The pattern of the airport was set to no landing, no takeoff in all directions. I corrected this. I did not change anything with altitude and flatten. So the afcads from me work fine know. Have traffic landing again.

Fixed AFCADS

Your scenery looks to me, as if there is still a stub file in scenery\world\scenery\ from experiments before or you missed to add Motzfelds files which go into Scenery\world\scenery.

Other differences the mesh you mentioned, the CVX you made and maybe layering. You can't compare the pictures from FSDeveloper. Was this Motzfeld too? This seemed to me like a discontinued project.

So remove your cvx, check if there is another BGSF AFCAD, check if you have an Motzfelds files for scenery\world\scenery there and disable the FSGUNG2020 mesh you have. If this does not work, install the mesh from Motzfeld linked above. His mesh and his airport, that goes together. It may even work, if you place the FSGUNG2020 mesh under Motzfelds.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for the mesh - I will make a new test.

For your information I had the same issue you can see on FsDeveloper, with the aircraft going under the bumpy runway !

I take this opportunity to "reveal" a well hidden airport priority behavior since Prepar3d V4.5 HF2.
The old silly need for the ALT airport bgl as been - at last - fixed !
I am convinced that this was necessary for the up-coming slopped runway option introduced with V5.

It seems I got the same elevation issues after installing FSDG NUUK. This also has mesh GLX_Mesh_WGS84_GeoTiff_11.bgl and removed it, KBSF works again. Now this is missing in the FSDG NUUK scenery. Such a dilemma. Try it with layering NUUK below KBSF...

Yes, I think you're right and I've tested this a number of times.  I've changed the altitude of several airports and there is no difference with or without it.

I have v5 and the altitude stub files aren't needed any more.

I don't have the issue because I rebuilt the scenery using ADE.  There are several issues with the default airport that need to be corrected using ADE.    This is another example of why ADE allows me to have up-to-date airports and not depend on 3rd party developers.

Finally I got it sorted out. If you use FSDG NUUK, don't use Ulrik Motzfeld Greenland Mesh files. There is also a mesh in his Kangerlussuaq (BGSF) scenery, which covers the airport and it's surroundings. FSDG NUUK also has it's mesh. I think it interfered at Kangerlussuaq therefore I had to elevate Kangerlussuaq over NUUK.

That solved my problem. In P3D5, there is a stub file comming with Ulrik Motzfeld Kangerlussuaq (BGSF) scenery. It's needed and I always said that. I only meant, if you have another stub file from another BGSF scenery or self made project, it needs to be found and replaced. Maybe I was not clear enough on that.

You were very clear but with or without stub I am getting the same results.

BTW, since P3DV5, I have discarded all the stubs of all my sceneries (including ORBX) without any side effect.

It was a very interesting and constructing echange.
