M. Night Shyamalan springs a Trap this summer: A father-daughter duo Josh Hartnett and Ariel Donoghue face horror at a pop concert, watch trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing Trap, a thriller set to hit theatres this summer. Directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan, the film promises a unique experience within the director's signature style. The story centres on a father and his teenage daughter who attend a pop concert, only to find themselves entangled in a sinister plot. Details about the exact nature of the darkness they encounter are kept under wraps, in classic Shyamalan fashion. But one thing's for sure: this concert is about to turn deadly.

The cast boasts a mix of established and rising stars. Josh Hartnett takes on the role of the father, while Ariel Donoghue portrays his daughter. Adding to the intrigue is Saleka Shyamalan, the director's own daughter, who will showcase her talents not only as an actress but also as a rising music star in the film. Rounding out the cast are veteran actress Hayley Mills and Allison Pill.

Behind the scenes, Shyamalan has assembled a team of talented individuals. Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, who captivated audiences with the cinematography of Call Me by Your Name, is the director of photography. Debbie de Villa, known for her work on The Hating Game, takes on production design. Noëmi Preiswerk handles editing, while Herdís Stefánsdóttir, who scored Knock at the Cabin, composes the music.

The production team also includes familiar names from Shyamalan's recent projects. Susan Jacobs returns as music supervisor after her work on Old, and Caroline Duncan handles costume design, a role she also filled for Old. Casting duties fall to Douglas Aibel, who recently worked on Wes Anderson's upcoming film Asteroid City.

Trap is a Blinding Edge Pictures production, distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. Mark your calendars, because the film will release theatrically on August 1, 2024, with a nationwide release in the United States following on August 9.
