Starting next November, the tourist destinations Jardines del Rey, Holguín, Cayo Santa María and Varadero will be the new itineraries of Sunwing, a leading group in trips to Cuba from Canada, from the cities of Ottawa and Quebec to the Greater Antilles.

According to a publication on its official website, the schedule of flights from Ottawa International Airport is as follows: Cayo Coco, on Tuesdays from November 16, 2021 to April 12, 2022; Holguín, on Tuesdays from December 14, 2021 to April 12, 2022; Cayo Santa María, every Friday from November 12, 2021 to April 8, 2022 and Varadero, Sundays and Thursdays from November 14, 2021 to April 7, 2022.

These places are inserted among the 11 destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico. "After a difficult year, we are eager to bring the residents of the capital back to the tropics under our wing," Andrew Dawson, President of Sunwing Tourism Operations, said.

The Sunwing website also announces that flights from Quebec will be planned to Cayo Coco, on Sundays from November 7, 2021 to April 10, 2022; and Wednesday from December 8, 2021 to April 20, 2022; to Holguín, on Sundays from December 5, 2021 to April 10, 2022; to Cayo Santa María, on Saturdays from November 6, 2021 to April 9, 2022; and Wednesday from December 8, 2021 to April 20, 2022; and to Varadero, on Mondays and Fridays from November 1, 2021 to April 25, 2022; and Wednesdays and Saturdays from December 8, 2021 to April 13, 2022.

Despite the prohibitions of the US blockade and the limitations imposed by COVID-19, the Jardines del Rey International Airport, in Cayo Coco, has kept its doors open to the world since September 4, 2020, the date on which air operations began with the arrival of Nordwind and Azur Air, from the Russian market, and, later, Air Canada.

The beautiful beaches of the archipelago, its favorable climatic conditions and the hospitality of the people are attractions of Cuba that are highly appreciated in the northern country, the leading market for tourists to the largest of the Antilles.

According to a note on the website of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cuba, published this September 6, Cuba prepares the conditions to gradually open the country's borders as of November 15, 2021. "Taking into account the progress in the vaccination process in Cuba, its demonstrated effectiveness and the prospect that more than 90% of the entire population will complete the vaccination schedules in the eleventh month of the year.

The note itself specifies, “Sanitary hygiene protocols will be made more flexible upon arrival of travelers, which will focus on monitoring symptomatic patients and taking temperature. In addition, diagnostic tests will be performed randomly, PCR will not be required upon arrival and the travelers' vaccination certificate will be recognized.

"The opening of the domestic tourism market will begin gradually in accordance with the epidemiological indicators of each territory," he concludes.
