Los Angeles, California – The second quarterfinal of the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup will see a South American football classic when Brazil and Argentina take the field on Saturday evening at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Both teams are old rivals, having faced each other 20 times in many different competitions like the CONMEBOL Copa America Femenina, the She Believes Cup and the Pan American Games, with Brazil coming out on top with an overall record of 17W-1D-2L.
As current champions of the Copa America Femenina, Brazil had a perfect run in the Group Stage of the W Gold Cup, finishing as leaders of Group B with three wins that included three clean sheets, showing a great defensive structure, with only nine shots on target.
Adding to their defensive power, the Verdeamarela has an extremely dangerous offensive line, with four different players scoring seven goals in the last three games.

As part of Group A, Argentina managed to get a 1W-1D-1L record, the only loss coming against the United States when they conceded four goals and lost 4-0.
They bounced back from the loss to the U.S. and the 0-0 draw against Mexico with a 3-0 win versus Dominican Republic in their last match of the Group Stage. Three different players showed up for La Albiceleste to get the job done: MFs Celeste Dos Santos, Dalila Ippolito and Maricel Pereyra all got one goal to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
The great work of GK Laurina Oliveiros is also a huge reason for the Argentinian success, making 11 saves and 17 clearances, keeping her sheet clean in two games against Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
