Heinemann Australia opens new Gold Coast Airport store

It is a first for the domestic terminal, and as part of ongoing upgrades to the precinct

Heinemann Australia has officially opened its new store in Gold Coast Airport’s domestic terminal.

A first for the domestic terminal, and as part of ongoing upgrades to the precinct, the store brings a world-class luxury shopping experience to Gold Coast domestic travellers, now with a full beauty, fashion and accessories offer, exclusive to Heinemann.

Commemorated by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and launch event attended by senior partners, stakeholders and local media on Thursday, 7 March, the  store formally opens ahead of the busy Easter travel period.

Featuring brands such Tom Ford, Jo Malone, Clinique, Gucci, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Versace, the range mirrors Heinemann’s offering in its international equivalent.

With over 20,000 passengers transiting Gold Coast Airport each day, the airport’s traffic has recovered strongly since the reopening of state and international borders, and recorded more than 6.2 million passengers in 2023 – over half a million more than the previous year.

Since the soft opening in November 2023, and over the course of the summer season, sales have ramped up considerably, recording on average a 42% increase month-on-month.

As part of its service, Heinemann now offers home delivery nationwide, which means passengers can shop without having to carry their purchases with them in-flight and onto their next destination. This is in addition to Heinemann’s Click & Collect service, which allows passengers to shop online and pick up in-store at their convenience, and Shop and Collect service, where passengers can shop in-store upon departure and pick up their purchases once they return.

Heinemann Australia Managing Director, George Tsoukalas said: “We are delighted to bring the best that Heinemann has to offer to domestic travellers as well as international duty free.

“We are all about the customer journey and we are excited that we can now serve passengers whether they are travelling domestically, internationally or transiting.”

Queensland Airports Limited Chief Commercial Officer, Adam Rowe said:  “Heinemann’s new store has really elevated and helped create a consistent experience across our airport. We’re also investing significantly in upgrading the domestic departure lounge, so we’re excited to see this all come together.”

The ribbon-cutting event was presided over by Heinemann Asia Pacific Chief Operating Officer Johannes Sammann, Heinemann Australia Managing Director George Tsoukalas and Queensland Airports Limited’s CEO Amelia Evans and Chief Commercial Officer Adam Rowe.
