On Thursday, December 7 we were proud to present our webinar: “Itching for New Therapies for Chronic Kidney Disease Associated Pruritus (CKD-aP).” It was presented by Dr. Karthik Tennankore, MD, SM, FRCP, and topics included:

  • A description and discussion of chronic kidney disease associated pruritis (CKD-aP) (itching associated with chronic kidney disease)
  • A discussion of how to screen and evaluate for CKD-aP
  • A discussion of treatment options for CKD-aP, including emerging (new) therapies

About the Speaker

Dr_Tennankore_for_event_page.pngDr. Karthik Tennankore MD, SM, FRCPC, received his MD at the University of Western Ontario and completed Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Dalhousie University. He went on to complete a two-year clinical fellowship in home dialysis at the Toronto General Hospital (University of Toronto), and concurrently obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology through Harvard University. He joined the Dalhousie Division of Nephrology in 2013 and is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and the QEII Foundation Endowed Chair in Transplantation Research. His research interests are aimed at improving the health of dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients. More recently, he has been studying the burden and impact of chronic kidney disease associated pruritus (CKD-aP) on patient outcomes and developing approaches to screening for CKD-aP in the dialysis population.
