About Us: What is SÄQ?

SÄQ is an ethical brand of Guatemalan products 100% handcrafted by Guatemalan artisans. SÄQ is also proudly founded by a Guatemalan native living in the United States.

My name is Ana María, born and raised in Guatemala. It has always been a dream of mine to start a business that could support members of my country, and that also highlights the beautiful and immense talent of Guatemala.

Our brand SÄQ means light in Kaqchikel, a Mayan language spoken in a region of Guatemala. This Kaqchikel word is representative of the light we wanted to bring to Guatemalan families, and the light that it brings to my own personal life.

It is important that we cultivate an environment of transparency and respect with the Guatemalan artisans we partner with by giving them the flexibility to make logistical and creative decisions on their craft, and providing them with financial and creative opportunities for themselves and their families. It is just as important that we are transparent with you, the customer, about where your product is coming from, how it was made, and who made it.
