Ahmedabad Airport: Big achievement by India’s aviation sector! The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SPVI) Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat which is also known as Ahmedabad Airport has been awarded for its international-level services. Recently, the airport has bagged a total of three international Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards. All the three international awards have been awarded by the Airport Council International (ACI) for the year 2018. The categories for which the airport has been acknowledged include best environment and ambiance, best customer services, and best infrastructure and facilitation. The ASQ programme is the leading airport passenger service as well as benchmarking programme of the world.
Recently, another incredible feat was achieved by another Indian airport– Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB). The Bengaluru Airport become the world’s first airport to clinch the ACI’s ASQ awards for both arrivals as well as departures. Interestingly, it is for the first time that the airport has won an ASQ award for arrivals, a category open to all airports across the world, that was introduced in the year 2018. The airport has also been recognized as the best Airport by size/ region in the 25-40 MPPA (million passengers per annum) category in the Asia-Pacific zone, according to a PTI report.
The globally- established ASQ programme recognizes airports around the world based on a survey of passenger satisfaction. According to the report, three quarters of the 100 busiest airports of the world are part of the ASQ programme, which means that over half of the world’s 8.3 billion travellers passed through an ASQ airport in the year 2018. Interestingly, a range of new award categories, recognizing excellence in segments of the customer experience was announced earlier this year. The categories have produced a diverse group of winners, illustrating the commitment to the customer experience of airports around the world, the report said.
