Zell am See is a beautiful Alpine town on the shores of a lake. The airport is very well managed. When you decide to fly there you just need to be aware of two main issues – the weather and the approach procedures. The weather can be difficult at times because Zell am See is surrounded by high mountains. The approach procedure reflects the stringend noise abatment rules as well as the complex terrain around the airport. The flight information service at the airport is professional, Avgas and Mogas fuels are available here, the landing fees are reasonable and the airport has a good restaurant. To see the area from the air and the landing/take off on runway 08, you should watch our video.
