Norway, Narvik Evenes ENEV - Departure
Evenes Harstadt Narvik Airport (ENEV) - take off
Narvik is the most northernly airport at which I have landed. Therefore in June and July the nights here are completely white. I flew here from the Swedish city of Kiruna which is only 150 kilometres away from here. However, the turbulent winds in the mountain valleys were so strong that I had feared for my aircraft and was happy to reach Narvik. The approach to runway 35 from the East is breath-taking since you fly over a beautiful bay and below the hilltops of the neighbouring mountains.
If you fly within Norway it is best to go on the website of Avinor and buy a weekly or bi-weekly landing card which allows you to land without any hassle and further payments at any Avinor airports in Norway. Since most of the Norwegian airports are managed by Avinor, you will have no further payments or bureaucracy do deal with.
My landing at Narvik Evenes airport was a standard exercise with the exception that the wind was quite strong. The airport offers Avgas fuel, internet, snacks… Just about everything you may need. From Narvik you can then fly North or South – dependent how much time you have and how lucky you are with the weather. Both directions offer you beautiful views of the fjords, mountains, glaciers, islands etc. for which Norway is so famous.

Take offs and landings video series Our video series „Take offs and landings“ will bring to you every Wednesday one video taken during a take off or landing during one of Flying Revue flight expeditions. Flying Revue expedition aircraft have landed already at more than 400 airports and airfields around the globe. For many reasons, not all our take offs and landings have been videoed. However, the number of videos which we have on file is permanently growing. So the new video series „Take offs and landings“ is very well stocked. You can watch these videos free of charge either just for your interest or as part of preparations for your own flight to some of the airports shown in these series.
