The Cervantes Brothers provided a new piece of artwork to La Mixteca Restaurants in Frankfort inspired by a village in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The Cervantes Brothers commented that Mixteca or Mixtec is the third language that the brothers speak fluently aside from Spanish and English, so they have a deep-rooted connection to the language, the culture surrounding the language and its impact.

The brothers hail from a village now known as Santa Maria de Teposlantongo. The village was previously called Nu Snuu Viko, which translated to The Home of the Clouds, which was an inspiration for the artwork presented to the family of La Mixteca Restaurants.

“That came about with us living in the base surrounded with nothing but mountains, and you could see the clouds hovering over the mountains from a distance. It is breath taking from the top looking down,” posted the Cervantes Brothers. “We just want to say props to this family who made something out of nothing. As a matter of fact, we come from the same village. That’s why they wanted us to do this artwork for them.”

The brothers continued to elaborate on the significance of the artwork, commenting that the artwork was inspired by their own experiences growing up in the village surrounded by the beautiful scenery.

“I remember us growing up running around being knuckle heads bumping heads here and there, but you know, we had to set that to the side and focus on the important things that mean the most to us,” posted the Cervantes Brothers. “Thanks again, and congratulations to the whole family.”
