No good deed goes unpunished.

Mason Albrecht should be celebrating. The high heavens have shown him their favor, granting him the rare privilege of wearing his very own halo. And he’s well on the path to tracking his mother’s true location with the help of his estranged fallen angel father.

Reuniting with Samyaza is the first step in finding more nephilim the world over, but trouble is afoot. Corpses keep turning up, their organs missing, their bodies tattooed with the same sigils Mason wears on his skin.

Something out there is killing the nephilim. Worse: it’s eating them.

Hi, I'm Nazri, a Filipino-Malaysian author based in California. I’m trilingual, but I really only write in English. I can also speak just enough Sindarin and Valyrian to impress absolutely no one. My urban fantasy novels focus on realistic heroes who use wits, style, and their wildly unpredictable magic to (try) and save the day. Think sass and class, while kicking ass.

My influences come from horror and fantasy: HP Lovecraft, Anne Rice, George R.R. Martin, Chuck Palahniuk, Terry Pratchett, and Neil Gaiman. Growing up I was shaped by the Blood Sword, Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, and Grey Star game book universes. I'm also inspired by video games, specifically the Castlevania, Final Fantasy, and Persona series.

TL;DR: I'm a huge nerd. And yes, that's my real hair. I try to donate it to the American Cancer Society as often as I can. Also, have you heard? You can get a free book at www.NazriNoor.com.

The fifth instalment in The Sins of the Father series.
In this, Mason's Nephilim brothers and sisters are turning up dead with their insides missing, and Mason and the gang take on Beelzebub.
This is full of action - like the rest of the series - from the off, with a few new characters too.
If you love high action urban fantasy, give Nazri Noor a go, you won't be disappointed.

After recent events, Nephilim Mason Albrecht should be celebrating as the high heavens have shown him great favour and granted him his very own halo (which is a very rare privilege). He's on the path to tracking his mother's true location was his estranged angel father Samyaza is helping him. Samyaza can also help him to find the other Nephilim worldwide who are in danger as they start to turn up dead and less their internal organs who seem to be being eaten. Can they track down any existing Nephilim, work out who is doing this and stop it from happening anymore (while also finding and freeing Mason's mother)? It's going to take all of the allies Mason has plus his very own brand of ingenuity in order to achieve this. Can he save everyone?

I loved this part of Mason's story. He had a lot of new discoveries, a lot of danger and drama, a lot of loss, but also a correcting balance of victory. I feel that he grew more as a person from everything that happened to him in this story, plus we enjoyed that growth with him. It was nice for Florian to also develop his skills further with the help of one of the Gods and that should put the friends in better stead for future adventures. I can see all sorts of exciting things happening next and it will be really interesting to see how the author chooses to direct the story next. Well written, easy to read and understand, and completely addictive. I just cannot wait to find out what is going to happen next and how Mason will handle whatever hits him next.

This is a very entertaining book. The fifth in the series about Mason Albrecht, a nephilim, is doing ok in his dimensional home owned by Artemis, the Goddess of the Hunt. Her brother Apollo is visiting and Mason's Angel father is living with them now. His life would be perfect if he could get his mother out of the hands of Beelzebub, the demon of gluttony and lies. He knows he is going to have to go after the demon, but he gets sidetracked when he and his friends find out about other nephilim who are being killed and their organs being harvested. He knows Beelzebub is involved, but he doesn't know how. The Lorica are always ready to catch him up when he causes trouble, but now even they are worried as is heaven's DEAD counsel that looks after the nephilim, especially Mason. This story above all is about friendship, cooperation among different races, teamwork and controlling ones temper, but also has some real violence, monsters and evil versus good. An excellent story and series that anyone who loves the supernatural, magic, and lots of heavenly weapons, will love this book. I highly recommend it. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

The fifth installment of the Sins of the Father series (featuring Mason) begins where Book 4 left off. Mason gets a reward for his mad saving-the-world skills, but the world - and his nephilim brethren - are still in need of salvation. Mason and his merry band (with both new and familiar faces in tow) set out to stop the Hunger and rescue Mason's mother from the clutches of Beelzebub.

This has to be my favourite installment in Mason's series so far. The pacing is excellent, the world-building is vivid (and continues to evolve), and the character development shines. The ending was perfect (That last sentence!! *swoon*)

This entry neatly resolves some larger plot points for the series and opens the door for Mason's story to take a new direction, which would be a very interesting development indeed!

It took me a long time to really warm to Mason as the focus of a series, but this has completely sold me. I think the payoff is perfect, and I'm really looking forward to the next entry!

I received an ARC via the author.

Round and rounds she goes, and where she stops….

Well definitely, nobody knows, because Nazri, himself, shows no signs of stopping.

This book is once again stylistically very different from its predecessors. In fact, if I’m being totally honest, it reads more like three sequential novellas. Bear in mind, please, that I find nothing wrong with that. Each segment is fully realized and leaves the reader totally satisfied.

As a whole this book nicely sets up the next step in the Arcane Underground’s journey and quite elegantly moves the whole story forward even as it is tossing out distracting tangents, galore. Those tangents I imagine, will be the bones upon which the meat of the next two or three series will hang.

Once again, well done, Mr. Noor! Well done.

Another great adventure with Mason. As Mason grows, he learns new skills, makes new friends, finds new family and makes some mistakes. But for him, it is all about doing the right thing.
And as always Nazri Noor has included an interesting antagonist.
Of course one of my favorite secondary characters is Priscilla.
So for now, one issue resolved and a bazillion more to go. I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

Brilliant

Following Mason's story is incredible. Love his character because he's bad ass but also very vulnerable. Every character, Raziel, Florian, the twin gods and daddy Sam bring it all together. With all that's going on right now it's beyond wonderful to have stories like this to escape into for just a little while and what better place than paradise. Can't wait for more from Mason

Exciting adventure for Mason

Another brilliant installment in Mason's adventures. As always the book is full of Mike's well placed humor and snark. The juxtaposition between the everyday and the magical which is such a hallmark of this author's writing is in full force. Mason may be demolishing breakfast but it is made by a lovable gorilla. Does he have a best friend? Sure, but not a human one.
Fun and engaging and definitely worth a read

That’s what I’m talking about!

This was the best in the Sins of the Father series so far. I still don’t absolutely love Mason but he was much more tolerable in this installment. I especially loved the solution to the problems presented in the climax of the novel. Very innovative and very cool.

Also. Man this author sure likes to rip your heart out and stomp on it sometimes, eh? All in all great story, looking forward to the final book in the series.

Absolutely loved this!

Mason has come a long way from the frightened kid who was alone in the world. Here he has a major fight with one of the 7! This series is truly a joy to read. Nazri Noor has created an incredible series. Highly recommended

Tension is rising and I love it. These books are a lot of fun so it's sometimes easy to overlook how much family is central to these stories. The author outdid himself with this one.

Another fun one, but honestly there's just too many normals completely failing to even react upon meeting angels, demons and gods.

Like, watching mom meet Artemis would've been a hoot.
