The X-Men movie franchise has never been shy about making some crazy decisions, from a '60s period reboot to finally making a movie that even made Oscar Isaac suck. But all that's nothing compared to the latest plot news about the standalone Wolverine sequel Logan.

20th Century Fox

Word has it that Logan will be set in the year 2024, where Mutants are dying out and Wolverine can't heal quite as fast as he used to. Dude's old, is the thing. He's driving a limo and caring for a REALLY old Professor X, alongside his faithful Albino sidekick Caliban, played by Stephen Merchant, because why the hell not. As with all previous X-Men films, this bonkers premise has the potential to go off the rails entirely, or be extremely fun.

For those of you playing at home, Logan is either the third Wolverine movie, or the ninth X-Men one. Unless it's the tenth. Do we count Deadpool? What alternate universe are we even in anymore? Did you know Darren Aronofsky was originally going to direct The Wolverine? Wild. Anyway, the whole timeline is really murky at this point. Even Bryan Singer doesn't really know what's going on.

Hugh Jackman has stated for the record that this will be his final film in the role, which, by the time the movie is released, he'll have been playing for SEVENTEEN YEARS. As superhero movie tradition dictates, he will be promptly replaced with a young up-and-coming English actor and everyone will be angry. See you then.
