Capri

An island that offers a landscape of wild beauty sculpted by wind and sea, this is Capri.

With a precipitous, jagged coast, and encircled by the famous “Faraglioni” and by numerous caves that play with lights.

The most famous one is “Grotta Azzurra”. The island continues to be both a legend and a favorite destination for travelers, intellectuals and the international jet-set – “performing” at any given time in the legendary piazzetta, the real-time theatre of the island’s ‘Dolce Vita’.

Capri is a gem of brilliant history through all its different facets. Its innumerable points of interest allure visitors with their tales of an enchanted past. Its discovery by the ancient Romans was hinted by countless archaeological finds – e.g.  Villa Jovis, whose construction was commissioned by the Emperor Tiberius.

The Basilica  Certosa di San Giacomo is a must; today it host a museum exposing statues recovered from Grotta Azzurra.

In Anacapri, the characteristic Casa Rossa is a striking piece of work within a gorgeous and colorful landscape: inside it can be found L’Isola Dipinta, a permanent exposition of images illustrating the island’s history and traditions.

Beyond the cultural attractions, sea and nature in all their charm, Capri also offers good shopping: tasteful boutiques and artisans’ studios selling “Made in Italy” items and typical products alternate along the characteristic side streets. Moreover, the deliciouslocal food is tied to the island’s maritime and peasant traditions.
