Following Inter Miami’s hard-fought 2-3 victory in the opening of FC Cincinnati’s soccer-specific TQL Stadium in which the forward played a pivotal role for the team by scoring a brace, Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín shared his thoughts on his performance and helping the team get back to winning ways.

“Clearly, yes it feels special but although for me every goal feels the same way, if it's a free kick or a penalty, the amount of play, the most important thing for me is to help the team,” said Higuaín.

“It’s a great satisfaction, we needed to win. We weren’t up to the team’s standards in the past two games and we needed these important three points to gain our confidence back. We need to correct some mistakes, maybe that we don’t get scored on that easily. Winning 2-0 there's no reason that the match gets out of hand, we need to handle those situations better, defend better. Regardless of that, we are happy to make history in a new stadium,” he added.

Inter Miami’s leading goalscorer this season, who has racked up four goals already this campaign and was voted as the Heineken Man of the Match due to his stellar performance, also expressed his happiness with his brother Federico Higuaín’s performances so far this season.

“I’m very happy that he played and that he’s doing well, that he played 80 minutes because it had been a while since he had played that much. For me, he had been Inter Miami’s best player this season with his performances...We are very happy with him,” he concluded.
