As work expanding the terminal at Key West International Airport continues, the airport has had a banner year going into the holiday season.

More than 1 million passengers have used the airport so far this year, according to Monroe County Airports Director Richard Strickland. October saw 89,989 passengers, pushing the total number for the year past 1 million to 1,073,842 passengers, Strickland said.
