Saipem awarded offshore contracts in Côte d’Ivoire and Italy Saipem awarded offshore contracts in Côte d’Ivoire and Italy Published by Jack Roscoe Editorial Assistant Oilfield Technology, Monday, 11 Sep 23 Saipem has been awarded two new contracts for offshore activities in Côte d’Ivoire and Italy for an overall amount of €850 million. The first contract has been awarded to Saipem by Eni Côte d’Ivoire and its partner Petroci. It is a subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) contract for the development of the Baleine Phase 2 project, which takes its name from the oil and gas field, located offshore Côte d’Ivoire at a 1200 m water depth. The scope of work encompasses the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of approximately 20 km of rigid lines, 10 km of flexible risers and jumpers and 15 km of umbilicals connected to a dedicated floating unit. The installation works will be carried out by Saipem’s offshore construction vessels and will take place in 2024. With this new award, Saipem brings a further strategic contribution to the history of the Baleine field and strengthens its presence in Côte d’Ivoire. Saipem contributed to the drilling activities of Baleine Phase 1 by deploying the Saipem 10 000 and Saipem 12 000 vessels, followed up by the execution of two contracts for Baleine Phase 1 in fast-track mode. The second contract has been awarded to Saipem, through a temporary association of companies with Rosetti Marino and Micoperi, by Snam Rete Gas for the construction of the facilities for the new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to be located in the Adriatic Sea offshore Ravenna, Italy. The project consists of the EPCI of a new offshore facility, linked to the existing one, for the docking and mooring of the FSRU, to be connected to shore via a 26” in. offshore pipeline 8.5 km in length, plus a 2.6 km onshore pipeline and a parallel fibre optic cable. The shore crossing will utilise a microtunneling system to minimise environmental impacts. Offshore operations will be executed by Saipem’s pipelay barge Castoro 10. The new FSRU will enable an increase in Italy’s LNG import capacity, thus improving the country’s energy security thanks to the diversification of gas sources. #lng #contract #epci #fsru #subseaumbilicals #risers #flowlines https://lnkd.in/d5nFwcBS

Italian oilfield services company, Saipem, has been awarded a USD 1 billion contract to provide services in the development of the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project (BGUP). The contract was awarded by Mellitah Oil and Gas B.V , a joint venture company owned by Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Italian energy firm Eni. The purpose of the BGUP is to eliminate gas flaring at the Bouri offshore oil field that sits about 75 miles off the western coast of Libya. Currently, about 120 million cubic feet of gas is flared each day, with Bouri being Libya’s largest producing oil field. With the BGUP, Saipem will deliver works to capture the natural gas released in oil drilling and transport it to an onshore terminal in Libya owned by Mellitah Oil & Gas. The plan to capture gas, that would otherwise be flared in the oil drilling process, forms part of Libya’s broader plans to exploit its offshore gas potential. Earlier this year Libya entered into significant deals on gas projects, including a USD 1 billion investment by Eni. Our team at Eltumi & Co specialise in energy and infrastructure projects, and we track developments in these sectors in order to provide commercial legal support to businesses operating in the sector. Saipem, the Italian oil field services company, has recently secured a game-changing contract for the development of the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project (BGUP), situated in shallow waters off the Libyan coast. Mellitah Oil and Gas B.V , a joint venture company between Libya's National Oil Corporation and Eni North Africa, has entrusted Saipem with this remarkable venture, valued at approximately $1 billion. This significant contract entails a comprehensive revamp of platforms and facilities linked to the Bouri gas field, nestled in water depths ranging from 145m to 183m, offshore Libya. Saipem's role encompasses the full spectrum of engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC), including the construction of a 5,000-ton Gas Recovery Module (GRM) onto the existing DP4 offshore facility. Furthermore, the project involves the construction of a 28km pipeline network to connect the DP3, DP4, and Sabratha platforms, fostering seamless connectivity and operational efficiency. Notably, Saipem plans to execute pivotal lifting operations utilizing its state-of-the-art semi-submersible crane vessel, the Saipem 7000, reflecting the innovative and cutting-edge solutions needed to complete the project. The contract highlights the vital environmental initiative of this project. The completion of this endeavor will significantly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions in Libya, aligning with the global drive and Libya's commitment towards sustainability. Petrofac secures three-year services contract for TotalEnergies UK assets Petrofac has secured a three-year framework agreement with French #oil and #gas supermajor TotalEnergies. Under the deal, Petrofac will provide #engineering, #procurement, #construction and #commissioning (#EPCC) services across all of TotalEnergies’ UK continental shelf (UKCS) assets. Petrofac asset solutions chief operating officer Nick Shorten: “In a mature basin like the UKCS – where enhanced recovery, field life extension and decarbonisation are key – this framework recognises our ability to combine our extensive #engineering and #construction expertise and #offshore operations experience to support TotalEnergies.” The latest Petrofac deal contributes to a strong run of contracts secured in 2023, which saw the group’s order book stand at $6.6 billion by the end of June, up from $3.4bn in January. However, despite the strong contract performance Petrofac has seen its share price tumble in recent weeks and its credit rating downgraded by Fitch. As a result, the company said it is “examining a range of strategic and financial options” to improve its balance sheet including selling off “non-core assets”. Petrofac North Sea deals Petrofac did not disclose the value of the contract with TotalEnergies, but the company has secured several large contracts in 2023. A strong order book this year has seen the London-listed firm hire 3,000 people across 12 months. Over 1,000 of those hired have been in the UK, where the company has renewed more than 80% of its existing work. Landmark North Sea deals secured by Petrofac this year include a three-year contract extension with Repsol Resources UK worth $100 million. The deal, supporting UK North Sea operations, supports more than 300 jobs across 10 #offshore assets, as well as a pair of #onshore oil terminals. Petrofac also signed an extension to its integrated services contract with Neo Energy worth £250 million. The deal will see Petrofac continue its maintenance, engineering and construction work on New European Offshore UK-based floating production storage and #offloading (#FPSO) vessel, Global Producer III. Italian oilfield services firm Saipem also awarded Petrofac a new multi-million-pound deal to support the #decommissioning of a platform in the UK sector of the North Sea. International contracts In addition to its growing North Sea order backlog, Petrofac has also secured several large contracts internationally. The company secured an E&C contract for one of the Middle East region’s largest carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) schemes from Emirati state-owned firm ADNOC Gas. Worth more than $600 million, the scope of work for the Habshan project involves the delivery of carbon capture units, associated pipeline infrastructure and a network of #wells for carbon dioxide (CO2) recovery and injection.
