🇩🇪 🛫 Lufthansa is now playing the AOC game at Ryanair level. City Airlines will be flying A319s directly from the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich from next summer. Years ago this would have been unthinkable. Discover flies touristic routes from the same places. Plus Eurowings and Eurowings Europe, which has moved from Austria to Malta. Does that ring a bell? Ryanair's Malta Air is in the neighbourhood, Buzz in Poland, Lauda also moved from Austria to Malta and Ryanair UK is another AOC for the irish Ryanair. Lufthansa has long surpassed Ryanair in terms of seat reservations, which start at 25 euros. Also Wizzair plays the same game with Wizzair Hungary, Wizzair UK, Wizzair Malta and Wizzair Abu Dhabi. Not active currently are Wizzair Ukraine and former subsidiaries in Romania and Bulgaria. Which other airlines do you know having so many subsidiaries? EUROCONTROL’s Week 23 Go direct to the video👇🏼 2 network records 🏆 smashed in Week 23 as İGA İstanbul Airport & Ryanair set all-time highs as busiest European airport & airline 👌🏼.   Both happened on Sunday 11 June, when ▶️iGA Istanbul Airport handled a record-busting 1,684 flights (beating by 60 flights the previous record held by Frankfurt Airport since 11 September 2019), as football fans swelled movements after the Champions League final ▶️Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline performed 3,256 flights (⬆️24% vs 2019: Ryanair has been setting a series of personal bests this year since beating its own August 2022 high of 3,131 flights on 28 May 2022…)   And on top of that, Week 23 also contained ▶️the busiest single day of air traffic since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 32,732 flights on Friday 9 June, ⬆️2% vs last Friday (2 June), ⬆️2% over two weeks and ⬆️4% vs the equivalent day in 2022…   Overall, Week 23 maintained steady growth with 31,304 daily flights, ⬆️1.8% vs Week 22 – although traffic did dip to 92% of 2019 traffic (Week 22: 93.5%)   Summer flights continued to grab the headlines with the most rapid traffic increases: ▶️Greece ⬆️7% & now over 2K daily flights (2,019 in Week 23) ▶️ Antalya ⬆️8% vs Week 22 & up to 9th (881 daily ✈️), the fastest growing Top 20 airport ▶️ Aegean ⬆️10% (415 daily flights) & up to 16th   And the table-toppers for Week 23 were: ▶️ Busiest airline Ryanair (3,172 daily ✈️, ⬆️1% vs Week 22) ▶️ Busiest airport iGA Istanbul Airport (1,496 daily ✈️, ⬆️5%) ▶️ Busiest State the UK (5,975 daily ✈️, ⬆️1%) #simbuddy #aviation #aviationnews #airlines #pilots #aircrew #aviationindustry #captains #captain #fo #firstofficers #firstofficer #airlineindustry #pilot #cityjet  #aircraftmaintenance  #linemaintenance #atc #AirTrafficControl #airtrafficcontroller #luchtvaart #cabin #crew #cabincrew #flightattendant #flightattendants #bombardier #boeing #airbus

✈ Exciting news for next winter! Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline opens a new direct route from Liverpool to Rovaniemi. Next winter season Rovaniemi will be better connected to Great Britain as Ryanair starts operating from Liverpool to Rovaniemi with two weekly flights.   Ryanair is also increasing amount of flights to their previously opened routes; Charleroi in Brussels, Dublin Ireland and Stanstedt in London.    ”The New Connection to Great Britain is a wonderful addition to the comprehensive route offering of Finavia´s airports. With the new collaboration, Rovaniemi airport, as well as all our other airports in Lapland, will benefit to the new connections bringing visitors from different countries”, says Finavia´s Director of Route Development Petri Vuori. #Tirana is an extremely fast-growing airport, primarily because of Wizz Air and now Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline, the latter beginning at the end of October. In the first week of November, TIA has 520 departures – up from 294 in the same week in 2019 (+77%) and 334 in 2022 (+56%). Of course, this is not the peak season. Read more about Ryanair's entry: https://lnkd.in/eWXzvX6a TIA has 69 destinations that week, up from 56 YOY and just 33 in 2019. These include EDI, which has not previously had TIA flights but which will now see both Wizz Air *and* Ryanair. Which carrier will be the first to blink? Then there is Ryanair to MAN, competing indirectly with Wizz's return to LPL (had a 64% SLF when served in 2022), Wizz to BHX, Ryanair to STN... Looking at the same November week, there will be 42 weekly TIA-LON flights: Wizz 19 weekly to LTN (rises significantly from December), Ryanair 14 weekly to STN, BA 6 weekly to LHR, and Air Albania 3 weekly to STN. Again, this is winter. Note that easyJet had scheduled 2 weekly to LGW in November, but this is not bookable, and Albawings only serves STN in the summer.
