Tomorrow and day after going to be hard , stressful and challenging two days at VOBL ( Bangalore international airport) as we have to carry out calliberation of ILS ( instrument landing system ) of all runways 27L, 09R, 27 R and 09 L . Not going to be easy task for us as a crew and approach controllers also keeping in view the density of air traffic. Let’s see how controllers are going to deal and handle a cat among a pigeons. Tomorrow I have planned for two runways and day after other two depending on WSO what runways he is going to handover😀. Will keep u updated.

Completed ILS calliberation few days back at VOHS for RWY 27, 09 L and 09 R few days back and today started commissioning of new VOR at REWA ( VERW) half work done today ,will be completed by tomorrow. Apart from that today we completed new PAPI calliberation at VERP as runway has been extended from 24 end and so Papi relocated . Lastly, VOR RRP has been changed with new equipment and repositioned and we carried out new VOR trial approach procedure for both runways 24/06 successfully and satisfactorily 😀Will keep u updated

Completed Routine ILS calliberation of runway 11R few days back at Delhi ViDP and also commissioning of new ILS at VEAT ( Agartala runway 18)

One more feather in our cap, successfuly completed one more today trial validation of RNP Z LPV approach runway 09 at Jalgaon VAJL . I am so delighted and gratified past one week for carrying out these satellite based approaches which is as good as ILS CAT 1 . . Most interesting phase in this approach is the final approach fix when GPS is taken over by SBAS and the satellites computes your 3 degree down to DA without any ground equipment , LPV in green gets locked on your PFD. Very sensitive shallow approach as compared to ILS cat 1 . I am personally enjoying these satellite based approaches. Took off at 7 in the morning and all protection level VPL ( vertical protection and HPL ( horizontal protection was well within ICAO acceptable limits but unfortunately couldn’t carry out LPV approach at VAPR ( Porbandar as VPL crossed 50 mts limits and loss of integrity was displayed on PFD. wil do it tomorrow early morning😀

Completed validation trial satellite approach ( LPV) RNPZ RWY 24 at Jabalpur ( VAJB) successfuly! Accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability are the basic quality parameters extremely important in satellite navigation result in using GAGAN ( our regional SBAS satellite based augmentation system. We were fortunate that we were getting all these quality parameters by maintaining data VAL ( vertical protection level which as per ICAO to be less then 50 meters and HAL ( Horizontal protection level) to be less then 40.0 meters) . But later part of the day during procedure at Jalgaon ( VAJL) errors started coming in due ionospheric effect and one of a quality parameter integrity was lost and got a messsge “ LOSS of Integrity” as VAL and HAL values shooted up beyond acceptable values and we had to discontinue the RNPZ 09 LPV approach at Jalgaon. We will try again tomorrow early morning as noticed after sunrise till 10:30 VAL value remains around 20 . Keep u updated. 😀

Just completed new VOR commissioning at VOHY ( Hyderabad Begumpet) . We completed whole commissioning in3:45 mts without any delay or holding by Hyderabad control area as well as nearby Airforce stations like Hakimpet and airforce academy. Finally job accomplished in a very less time . Proceeding to Jalgaon and Jabalpur for LPV satellite based approaches instrument procedure validation. Keep u all updated

Completed validation trial instrument approach procedure for Belagavi ( VOBM) RNP Z08 and RNP Z26 and Kandla VAKE RNPZ23 and RNP Z05 for RNP approaches down to LPV ( localiser performance with vertical guidance) Minima which is a SBAS( satellite based augmentation system) GAGAN in our case. Since India lies in Equatorial ionisation anomaly ( EIA) region we are prone to ionospheric errors in satellite signals which has taken a toll on us during these trial approaches. Ionospheric bubbles occur more frequently after 11:30 and we had to prepone our departure to early morning and get job completed by 11:30 . It takes almost 1:30 mts for one runway validation . Range error due to group delay of the signal travelling through ionosphere is one of a major effect of ionosphere on satellite based navigation. Few days back Porbandar ( VAPR) we had to discontinue because of phase and amplitude scintillations caused by irregularities in electron density distribution. We are carrying out more LPV trial approaches in this week will keep you updated. # satellite based approaches

Completed new VOR commissioning at VABB and ILS calliberation of RWY 27 amidst lot of arrivals and departures . Was not easy over Mumbai airspace but we managed and job was accomplished. Today going for ILS 09 Calliberation

Completed nearly more then half new VOR commissioning at Kushinagar ( VEKI ) which is 25 nms east of Gorkahpur ( VEGK). KSH new VOR identification frequency 115.7 . Will be accomplished today in the second half along with PAPI calliberation of both sides of Runway 29 / 11 . Today first half will be completing ILS calliberation at Patna VEPT RWY 25😀
