Government of Canada - Changes in the Senior Ranks of the Public Service On May 24th, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the public service: Catherine Blewett, currently Secretary of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat | Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor du Canada, becomes Senior Official, Privy Council Office, effective June 3, 2024. Bill Matthews, currently Deputy Minister of the Department of National Defence/Ministère de la défense nationale, becomes Secretary of the Treasury Board, effective June 3, 2024. Stefanie Beck, currently Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada/ Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada, becomes Deputy Minister of National Defence, effective June 3, 2024. Lawrence Hanson, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada, becomes Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, effective June 3, 2024. Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat | Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor du Canada - Supplementary Estimates (A), 2024–25 On May 23rd, the Government of Canada tabled the Supplementary Estimates (A), 2024–25, in the House of Commons. United States Department of Defense (DOD) - Open Announcement Through Other Transaction Authority for U.S. and Selected International Partners On May 14th, the DOD released a new Open Announcement through the Defense Industrial Base Consortium Other Transaction Authority (DIBC OTA) that will accept unsolicited White Papers to be considered for Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III and Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) funding. DIBC membership is free and is open to U.S. organizations as well as international partners from the United Kingdom (UK), Australia, and Canada. The FY24 National Defense Authorization Act designated the UK and Australia as domestic sources for DPA funds; Canada has been a domestic source since 1992. The critical sectors sought under this Open Announcement include: Kinetic Capabilities Energy Storage and Batteries Castings and Forgings Strategic and Critical Materials Microelectronics Workforce Development The Open Announcement is currently accepting White Papers and will remain open until September 30, 2024. Government of Canada – New Diplomatic Appointments On May 22nd, the Government of Canada announced the following diplomatic appointments: Graham Dattels becomes Representative to the Palestinian Authority. Michael Gort becomes Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. Annabelle Larouche St-Sauveur becomes Consul General in Monterrey (United Mexican States). Government of Canada’s - Enterprise Cyber Security Strategy The Government of Canada’s Enterprise Cyber Security Strategy is a plan to improve cyber security across government departments and agencies to continue to provide secure and reliable digital government services. It serves as a framework to move the government even more from a defensive position to a proactive cyber security approach by improving training, applications, policy, and monitoring. The strategy is built on 4 strategic objectives to help federal organizations take a broader, enterprise-wide approach to protect their systems against cyber risks: Articulate cyber risk and its business impacts meaningfully for effective, action oriented, and accountable decision-making Prevent and resist cyber-attacks more effectively towards a greater protection of GC information and assets Strengthen capabilities and resilience across the GC to proactively prepare for, respond to, and recover from cyber events Foster a diverse GC workforce with the right cyber security skills, knowledge and culture https://lnkd.in/erem5UfN

Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, Department for Business and Trade and UK Ministry of Defence of Defence - Space Regulatory Review 2024 On May 16th, the Government of the United Kingdom released the Space Regulatory Review 2024 which was developed collaboratively with the space, defence, finance and insurance sectors, government, and the independent regulators. The report identifies 7 priority outcomes and 17 recommendations, to maintain the UK as one of the best places on Earth to start, scale and run a space business: 1. Agility – greater, responsive coordination across government departments and regulators 2. Innovation - a dynamic framework that supports novel and emerging missions and technologies 3. Growth - a progressive regulatory framework that encourages investment 4. International partnership – a multilateral alliance with other spacefaring nations with aligned regulatory frameworks and international best practice 5. Safety and sustainability - incentivising sustainable space activities, protecting the space environment and its celestial bodies 6. Accessibility - a coherent suite of primary and secondary space legislations and clear published guidance 7. Public Services and Procurement Canada | Services publics et Approvisionnement Canada (PSPC) - Using or Providing Cloud Solutions for Controlled Goods Data On May 16th, PSPC released the following guidance on Canada Buys: Are you a registrant in the Government of Canada’s Controlled Goods Program who uses or provides cloud solutions to store data? If so, then you have a responsibility to ensure that controlled goods data is properly safeguarded in the cloud. Individuals and organizations registered in the Controlled Goods Program should: only use cloud solutions provided by cloud service providers registered with the Controlled Goods Program encrypt their controlled goods data when uploading or transferring data to the cloud restrict access to their controlled goods data to individuals who have been security assessed under section 15 of the Controlled Goods Regulations report security breaches affecting their cloud-stored controlled goods data to the Controlled Goods Program Cloud service providers should: register with the Controlled Goods Program to be able to store controlled goods data implement a security plan detailing the controls used to protect the physical assets and locations for their cloud solutions as well as the cloud environment itself ensure that only employees who have been security assessed under section 15 of the Controlled Goods Regulations have access to a client’s controlled goods data when providing technical assistance https://lnkd.in/eEPWPuSU
