Yesterday, Petaluma Firefighters hosted a local Girl Scout troop at Fire Station #2! It was an absolute joy to show these young minds around our station and equipment. More importantly, they got to share what it means to be first responders—dedicated public servants whose primary mission is to help the community. The curiosity and excitement in their questions and eagerness to learn about our roles were truly inspiring. Events like these remind us of the importance of #communityengagement and the potential of these future leaders. We’re proud to serve such a vibrant community and look forward to welcoming more visitors! City of Petaluma #futureleaders #PublicService

Reflecting on my time at the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, I realize I don't have many videos to look back on. Surprisingly, I stumbled upon this one, capturing my first flashover training and my first time stationed at the nozzle. As I stepped into the intense heat of the container, my senses were overwhelmed. My heart pounded so loudly I couldn't hear anything else, and the scorching temperatures between 900 and 1500 degrees Fahrenheit made it feel like my bones were melting. With a crew of three behind me, relying on my judgment when oxygen was introduced to the container, the pressure was palpable. In the heat of the moment, I made a critical error. If not for the well-trained, trusted crew by my side that day, we might not have made it out. That experience taught me a profound lesson: above all else, trust binds a team together. It's the cornerstone of effective collaboration, ensuring that even in the most challenging situations, we can rely on each other to navigate safely through the flames. I want so badly to be part of a volunteer department, to rock turnout gear once more and proudly answer to the nickname "twig20" someday. #firefighter #volunteer #training #teambuilding #trust

JLP40 was the culmination of 7 years of hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit to help transform families nationwide through our highly skilled and passionate veteran community. @senatorjacquilambie is now a part of the @veteranmentors family due to our shared values, military background, and shared passion for this country’s youth. Leadership comes in many forms, from delegating to hard work and setting an example. Jacqui’s leadership is like no other. To have one of the most popular Australian Senators spend 9 days on the program and take the washing burden off the mentors was a very surreal moment and one the team will never forget. Seventy kids’ uniforms and PT clothes washed daily, plus all 24 of the staff, meant she was up at 0530 working on the program and working well past 0100 every night washing without missing out on her picquet. When asked to abseil by a participant, even though it was clear her back was giving her misery like all us vets, she pushed through regardless. That was an experience she wasn’t going to deny this participant, regardless of any pain or discomfort. Find me one other Senator that would do this and put herself through such discomfort just to bond with the veteran community and transform the lives of children on the frontlines. Jacqui, I am honored to have served alongside you those last 9 days, and the whole crew at Veteran Mentors looks at you as a sister. The amazing reputation you have and work ethic is really second to none. A true Aussie hero. One of many magical moments is when Jacqui listened to Caitlin’s story around the fire the same story she shared with the Royal commission into veteran suicide which will be apart of Jacqui’s legacy. #rsl #youthdevelopment #youthprogram #youthcrime #youthmentalhealth #youthempowerment #youthwork #veterans #veteranmentors #youthempowerment #youthengagement #youthleadership #youthwork #youthleadership #anxietyawareness #anxietytherapy #anxietytreatment #depression #depressiontreatment #selfcare #selfesteem #veteranshelpingveterans #veteranownedbusiness #veterancommunity Jacqui Lambie

Glad to see the #NYC #SeaWall plan getting more coverage in The Guardian! When I spoke to the US Army Corps of Engineers, they were emphatic that the plan would change before construction started, let alone finished, but that any further delay just put more New Yorkers at risk. What do you think would best protect NYC from #ClimateChange? Let me know in the comments below! Check out my mini-documentary on plan 3B here: Guardian article is in the comment

Each year Juneteenth (June 19th) commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The celebration takes place each year on June 19th, recognizing an event that took place in Texas in 1865. The story of Juneteenth begins in Texas when Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston on June 19, 1865, with an announcement. As the community listened to the reading of General Orders, Number 3, the people of Galveston learned for the first time that the Civil War was over. After more than a century of slavery and years of war, it was official. All slaves were now freedmen. Let's celebrate it together. We stand for freedom! . . . #Juneteenth #spacesforlife #fhconstruction #constructionwork #constructioncompany #keepcraftalive #constructionmanagement #constructionjobs #preconstruction #schoolconstruction #parkingstructures #californiaconstruction #hawaiiconstruction #greenbuilding #commercialconstruction #publicworks #constructionsafety #constructionengineering #designbuild #leaseleaseback #integrity #quality #performance #legacy #innovation #community #framing #concrete
