The crash of Air France Flight 296 on June 26, 1988, was caused by a combination of factors, primarily pilot error. During a demonstration flight at an airshow in Mulhouse-Habsheim Airport, France, the Airbus A320 aircraft attempted a low-level flyover. The pilot miscalculated the altitude and airspeed, resulting in the aircraft's failure to gain sufficient altitude during the maneuver. As a result, the aircraft crashed into trees beyond the runway, resulting in fatalities and injuries among the passengers and crew. Additionally, factors such as inadequate crew coordination, poor communication, and insufficient training on the aircraft's systems and limitations contributed to the accident.

The #A330MRTT of Republic of Singapore Air Force 🇸🇬 is getting ready for Singapore Airshow.
#DidYouKnow that #Airbus and the RSAF worked together in 2023 to successfully complete the automatic air-to-air refuelling (A3R) flight test campaign? This involved an A330 MRTT ✈️ and the F-15, as part of a certification process. In addition, night flights were conducted with the F-15s and F-16s, which acted as receivers. The objective was to complete the A3R development and enable night capabilities with the automated system.

The week ends with more exciting news for the #aviation industry.
After several orders announced by the major OEM, in particular the large Boeing order from Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline now we see the world's leading business aviation company NetJets announcing a huge order with Embraer.
The order of up to 250 #Embraer Praetor aircraft will see #Netjets offering a new type of midsize jet to their owner base and incrementing their lead on the bizjet space. Last few years we saw a big M&A movement in this space with Vista, Wheels Up and the companies from Directional Aviation ramping up but there’s still a big gap compared to Netjets which will only increase with this order. Let's see how the competition will react.
Also great news for #Embraer who keeps steadily growing their position as a business jet, regional and military aircraft manufacturer. Cheers for my brazilian friends.
Exciting times to be in the aviation industry for sure.

We at NEXTGEN Aviators LOVE videos like this one!
Not because we like to see things go wrong or badly...
But because they can be GREAT teaching tools for those #teaching our next generation of aviators.
Incidents like these help #educators turn theoretical into actual. When teaching #math or #STEM concepts related to weight & balance, using a quick video like this to start the lesson.
It is a great attention-getter (step 1 of ARCS, for my fellow educators).
Evoking empathy and connecting relevance ("What if you were on this plane when this happened??") can be a part of step 2.
Weight & Balance -- yet another great and practical way aviation can be used to #teach STEM in our #schools and #classrooms.
