Card skimmers are physical devices that are attached to card payment terminals, such as ATMs, gas pumps, or point-of-sale (POS) machines. These deceptive devices are designed to secretly capture the information from a user's payment card when it is inserted or swiped, often leading to unauthorized financial transactions. To avoid falling victim to card skimming, it's important to regularly inspect card readers for any suspicious attachments or irregularities.
Card Skimmers are physical devices that are attached to card payment terminals, such as ATMs, gas pumps, or point-of-sale (POS) machines. When a card is inserted or swiped through one of these compromised terminals, the skimmer captures the card's information, including the card number and sometimes the cardholder's name and expiration date. The video below shows how easy it is to remove the skimmer from the plastic cover it is attached to and then connect it to another device to which the stolen data could be downloaded. #banks #banking #bankaccount #identitytheft #identitytheftprotection #accounttakeover #ato #business #smallbusiness #onlinefraud #fraudprevention #fruaddetection #insiderthreat #insider #insiderrisk #help #fraud #lawenforcement #policing #markets #bank #creditcards #atm #advertising #illicittrade #inventory #pos #pointofsale #data #atms #price #retail #software #sales #banks #money #brand #quality #skimming #harvest #data #video #pointofsale #data

Magnetic stripe Card Payments : An example of the reverse side of a typical Debit card: Magnetic stripe || Signature strip || Card Security Code Magnetic stripes card started to be rolled out on debit cards in the Year of 1970s with the introduction of ATM cards. The magnetic stripe stores card data which can be read by physical contact and swiping past a reading head. The magnetic stripe contains all the information appearing on the card face but allows for faster processing at point-of-sale than the then manual alternative as well as subsequently by the transaction processing company. When the magnetic stripe is being used, the cardholder will have been issued a PIN, which is used for cardholder identification at the point of sale device, and a signature is no longer required. The magnetic stripe is in the process of being augmented by the integrated chip. ->Due to increased illegal copies of cards with a magnetic stripe, the European Payments Council established a Card Fraud Prevention Task Force in 2003 that spawned a commitment to migrate all ATMs and POS applications to use a chip-and-PIN solution until the end of 2010. The "SEPA for Cards has completely removed the magnetic stripe requirement from the former Maestro debit cards #payments #security #data
