Making use of my edX subscription through my employer to stay up-to-date on my data analysis skillset by getting knocking out the first certificate of many in IBM's Data Analyst Professional Certification Playlist!
Thoughts on the certification:
Pro's:
>Regression analysis 101 ! My favorite part of this course was Module 7 (An Overview of Statistical Analysis) where they went into great detail not only on the different types of Statistical Analysis but also use cases and Data Mining Techniques!
>unbiased for the most part, they gave great coverage on programming languages & data visualization software that would be otherwise competition for IBM's own products in these spaces. Giving information on Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
Cons:
>Hot or Cold: Some modules of this certification I breezed through as the lessons were easy to digest and graded quizzes were laughably common sense but others, looking at you Module 7: Statistical Analysis & Module 3: Data Ecosystems, were steep inclines in how much information was being thrown at you.

This past weekend I gave myself the task to put together a video intro for my e-commerce & web analytics consultancy on Fiverr, Upwork and my portfolio website.
Funny enough the hardest part of this video wasn't writing the script, editing clips, or inserting animations with appropriate timing. No the hardest part of this video creation was getting out of my own way 😅 I see so many incredible creators on a daily basis that have slick animations, better audio & video quality, gets hard not to compare your work when it's literally your own face that you're putting out there. But! an even bigger feeling inside of me is the feeling of not wanting to regret, not wanting to miss out on a potential opportunity because I held myself back.
So here's the damn thing 😅
Why does trying to take helm of my own investment need to be so difficult??
In an attempt to invest my HSA funds.. I had to go through 3 websites. Create 1 new account. Re-remember 2 different passwords and call 1 agent (30 minute convo, thankfully) just to figure out how to transfer funds to be able to invest.
Sooo that's all the energy and time I have this week for "planning for my financial future"
More #Tableau practice!
Created a visualization on the number of unique monsters in each #Godzilla Film Era! Inserting a bar graph into the bubble chart's tool tip allows a user to see a list of the respective Godzilla films for that era and the number of monsters in that film.
Once upon a time mainly during undergrad, I was all over the mentorship scene. Anyone who wanted to learn anything about getting into college, writing scholarship essays, or studying abroad I was more than eager to share my knowledge and network. I was fearless back then, felt like I was poised to take on the world and wanted to share that feeling with anyone willing to try to do the same.
And thennnn I graduated and life kicked my ass for a couple of years 😅 felt like I couldn't help anyone until I had a handle on what career path I wanted to pursue, imposter syndrome and all that.
But I missed the sense of community and achievement that I got from helping someone achieve their goals like mentorship once gave me, so this fall, on a whim, I volunteered as a mentor with Latinas in Tech and although it's been a short mentorship thus far, I'm grinning ear to ear writing this post because my mentees have been an absolute joy to work with.
Motivated, intelligent, and all-around career rock-stars, It's been my privilege and joy to be a mentor to these incredibly driven individuals, looking forward to the New Year and new goals!
Incoming ADT E-Commerce Marketing Intern | Marketing Student at the University of Florida
I want to take a moment to shoutout amazing professionals who have given their time to mentor me. These individuals have been incredibly vital to helping me identify where I want to grow my career, as well as supporting my internship search and interview process.
First off, Cesar Marty and I were connected through the Citi Early ID program. He brought insight about finance and the ICG Ops role.Thank you for all your insights from the 5-week program to the interview and even now.
Secondly, Gina Novacco thank you for responding to my hundreds of questions about your career and being a true sponsor. I reached out to her because we had much in common (sorority, hometown, etc.) and saw she had a career path that aligned with my goals. Gina, thank you for connecting me with valuable people and resources, as well as being transparent about what a career in tech entails.
Also, thank you SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) for connecting me with Tom Matlock. Tom was truly a pleasure to prep for interviews with and made me comfortable in my answers and taught me how to frame my experience effectively.
Lastly, German Botello and I were connected through Latinas in Tech mentorship program. German has chatted with me about the day-to-day behind e-commerce and site management. He has also shared with me resources and reminded me to always value my experience and ensure my employer does as well.
To all my mentors, your volunteering is truly making a difference, thank you! You all deserved to be recognized and celebrated.

Used the #VideoGameAwards as practice for putting one visualization into another using the #Tableau Tooltip insert
In this visualization the user can see not only what Game Studios took away the most wins Year by Year but by hovering over that Game Studio they are able to see what Game(s) won the awards and the category they won in.
I showed this to my mom and the first thing she said was "But your Spanish sucks" 🤣 Thanks mom keeping me forever humble!
The other thing we talked about was the 6+ years of experience I have?!?! When did that happen!? 😮
Feels like just last week I was a fresh #georgiastateuniversity graduate looking for my first job in #digitalmarketing and it's been an incredible journey since 2018, finding my niche, ever expanding my technical skillset and getting to work with so many intelligent and driven people I've had the honor to call my colleagues.
It wasn't always clear what the ultimate objective was but following my curiosity led to some incredible journey's, like learning B2B account management with start ups, Web Experience Analysis on an E-Commerce Fortune 50 company scale, and AI for User Experience and A|B Testing. Suffice to say it's been a fun ride !
Has anyone in my network been to a CommerceNext show?
Today I got an email for 2024 Growth Show in NYC which is going to cover
-Generative AI and success use cases
-Elevating Customer Acquisition
-Unified Shopping Experiences
-Loyalty and Customer Experiences
-Seamless Digital Experiences
Regardless to say consider my interest peaked but would love to know if anyone in my network is considering attending as well!
