I finally did it! My transition to being a “civilian” is complete! It took 17 months to break past the final hurdle but today- I walked from my car to work, with an Umbrella, while talking on the phone. Transitioning is hard but not because of the big changes. I was well prepared for the big changes because I followed people like Michael Quinn. The struggle for me was all the small choices: do my socks match my shoes and my belt? Are these pants to long or to short? What color shirt should I wear with these glasses? All these little decisions gave me anxiety. Thankfully, I did follow great advice and got an American Corporate Partners (ACP) mentor and mapped out the transition plan. Today, I feel like a civilian. Own your journey but don’t hesitate to reach out to all those that went before you.
As long as you didn’t walk on the grass… 😂 Congrats, Jacob!!!!
I have an umbrella, never used it, but carry it in my car case the wife needs it
Well done! Now you need to walk in the grass in front of a CSM! :)
You’ll really feel it when you stand with your hands in your pockets while standing on a non-descript patch of grass. Hit me up if you want some tips on how to totally shed the Army quirks.
Get with Salute 2 Suit to finally gap the “what to wear” and “does this match” questions!
That's awesome! Hadn't thought about not owning an umbrella, but I have been able to walk and talk... I have not mastered walking on the grass.
Congrats Jacob! You have also turned your transition into helping so many others including me get through our transition! A big congrats and a huge THANK YOU!!
I knew you could do it! I will be updating my beard photo soon.
Thank you for your service! Enjoy that umbrella! 😁
