The 2023 Ohio EPA summer internship positions are now available for application at careers.ohio.gov. Students will be able to apply for the positions from now until February 27th. Please forward this information to students you think may be interested. This year Ohio EPA is hiring over 90 college interns for summer work, with many receiving positions within the Division of Surface Water. Students receiving internships can apply classroom knowledge in a real world setting and develop skills suitable for careers in natural resources, environmental stewardship, academia, biology, chemistry, ecology, water resources, fisheries, wildlife, botany, zoology, and engineering. Specific activities that interns may be involved include electrofishing surveys, macroinvertebrate sampling, water quality sampling, wetland inspections, stormwater inspections, water quality modeling, and permitting related activities. Numerous positions are located around the Columbus area, but we also have district offices around that state that also offer various types of positions. The base pay rate for these positions is now $16.00 per hour. The positions listed below are some of those that receive the most interest: Groveport Field Office – Fish and Bug Sampling Groveport Field Office – Water Quality Modeling District Water Quality Sampling Division of Surface Waters permitting Harmful Algal Bloom Drinking and Ground Waters – Engineering Legal Permitting Air Pollution Control Outreach and social media Materials and Waste Management Environmental and Financial Assistance Ohio EPA will be hosting two live webinar events to provide information about the available internship positions.
