Benchmarking Salaries of Oil & Gas Big Corporations Professionals with other Industries : (5) If you're Engineers and certified as Ir or PEng and applying for jobs with Petronas, you have higher chances of being accepted, subject to your genuine, relevant technical competencies. But with working experiences of 7 to 10 years, you might be offered a position as a Senior Executive only with Grade G3. In order for you to be promoted as a Technical Profesional ( Specialist) of your respective discipline or a Technical Manager, you must pass first Petronas Technical Profesional Assessments ; very stringent ones. Same goes with any of HSE Officers with SHO Green Book, you must pass first Petronas Technical Profesional Assessments prior to being promoted as a Technical Profesional of respective HSE Elements  or HSE Manager.  (6) For Electrical Resident Engineers, Petronas normally pays as per your last withdrawn salary, as a Contract Staff especially for those retirees of Petronas. Just imagine your last withdrawn salary was RM 45,000 per month!  (7) Current trend, a few former ExxonMobil Engineers joining Petronas. As Engineers, they may demand about 30 % higher of their last withdrawn salaries in ExxonMobil, subject to genuine, relevant technical competencies.  (8) To be continued..... Stay tune. 

Technical Career Ladder for Engineers in Petronas : (1) Starting January 2023, all Senior Engineers of Petronas who wanna be promoted as Technical Managers & HSE Managers must pass their Technical Professional Assessments ( Petronas Internal).  (2) Normally, once Engineers reaching their Senior Executives Level, they may apply for the Technical Professional Assessments.  (3) Equivalent salaries : Technical Professionals = Managers Principals = Senior Managers  Custodians : General Managers (4) Some Professionals prefer to be in Technical Ladder instead of Managerial Ladder; their prerogatives.  (5) Those Specialists from the Oil Majors such as ExxonMobil or Shell must also pass Petronas Technical Professional Assessments in order to assume roles as Technical Profesionals.  (6) Most of the Technical Professionals will be under PD&T at KLCC, no longer stationed at the respective Operating Units like before.  (7) Those Technical Professionals who resign Petronas and wanna migrate to Middle East will be paid handsomely as Expatriates. Upon being worked there for at least 5 years, they may rejoin Petronas as Contract Staff, highly paid huh. 😂

Dreaming to be part of Oil & Gas Big Corporations like Petronas, ExxonMobil, Shell, Murphy Oil, ConocoPhillips, BP, Schlumberger?  What does it take to get into those Giant Corporations?  Do I need to be Overseas Graduates of League Universities like Imperial College, Cambridge, Harvard, Oxford, Yale, MIT with CGPA of 3.8 to 4? As Local Graduates with CGPA just 3.0, being Protégé GEES, do I have a chance?  With technical working experiences of 8 years, as Engineers of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrument Engineering, preferably with Certificates such as SHO Green Book, Steam Engineer Grade 2 or 1, ICE Internal Combustion Engine Grade 2 or 1, greater chance to join?  Those of Non Technical Graduates with 8 years of working experiences may have the chance to join as well ?  In the old days, Petronas has relied so many on foreign Expatriates such as Americans, British, Germans, Canadians, Aussies, Indians of India Mainland, Japanese, Philippines. That time we didn't  have sufficient numbers of Technical Profesionals and Principals. So lots of technical gaps there. But nowadays, we have many Malaysians who're very competent with some having Middle  East experiences as Technical Professionals & Principals. Therefore, I've observed a few of my friends of highly experienced coming from Shell, ExxonMobil, Schlumberger joining Petronas.  For those who cannot join Petronas holding or Petronas Subsidiaries, they may also join Petronas Join Venture Companies like Prefchem - Petronas Aramco Join Venture at Pengerang, Johor.  Another way for them to join Petronas, join first any of Main Contractors of Petronas, network along the way with Petronas Staff.  Amongst LinkedIn connections, there are quite many Profesionals who're staff of Oil & Gas Big Corporations for you to connect with. Make friends with them over coffee sessions. That's what networking is all about for you to understand  better Oil & Gas working culture.  But if you' re so introvert, silo mentality and lack of networking skills, nothing much I can say.  Any more details, I may deliberate over Latte  coffee & sandwiches huh. Prospects of Engineers in Petronas : Have you been lingering in your mind with the following : (1) How much would be the starting salary with Degree, Master or PhD? (2) How much the starting salary with 1- year working experiences ( including Protégé), 2- year, 3-year and do forth? (3) What would be the hiring priorities between overseas Petronas scholars, UTP Petronas scholars, Graduates of Local public Universities & Private Universities? (4) Experienced Engineers with certificates such as SHO Green Book, Steam Engineer Grade 2 or 1, ICE Engineer Grade 2 or 1, Six Sigma Black Belt, IETS, Chargeman High Voltage or Low Voltage, IR or TS titles, PEng Professional Engineer? (4) Direct hired of Expatriates i. e. White Men, Indians Mainland , Philippines, Japanese? (5) Former Petronas staff who resigned, but to return to Petronas as contract staff? Any chances of being permanent ones? (6) To resign Petronas during probation period? (7) To stick with Petronas or to opt for a Petronas Joint Venture like Prefchem? (8) To set up your own business or company while serving Petronas? (9) How to be assessed as TP - Technical Profesionals? (10) Who're gonna TP Assessors? (11) Can Engineers be assessed for TP without any vacant positions? (12) What would be the ceiling salary of Senior Engineers and TP? For further deliberations, over coffee huh. Hahahahaha.

Job Prospects of Instrument Engineers : (1) In Colleges, they call it Electronics Engineering.  (2) Is it true that Malaysia is currently short of 50,000 Electronics Engineers, but the supply is only 5000 per year? Any Connections can verify the figures?  (3) Once we allow Foreign Graduates entering our work force, most likely they will stay & work here for the rest of their lives.  (4) Even in Petronas for instance, they still hiring some Foreign Expatriates for 20 - 30 years until they retire here, eventhough their jobs can be performed by our local highly experienced Professionals.
