Manchester Airport has broken passenger records for the sixth consecutive month. 🎉 Driven by Easter, last month was the busiest March the airport has ever seen. At the same time, for the second consecutive month, every single passenger waited for less than 15 minutes to get to security. 🛄 As part of the Transformation Programme, a brand new multi-million pound baggage system went live at the end of March. It features more than two miles of conveyor belts and can process 3,000 bags per hour. Read more here ➡ https://lnkd.in/eBgSCkUv

Following four weeks of 24/7 work, one of the main arterial taxiways at Manchester Airport, Taxiway Alpha, has been restored ✈️ Originally built in 1962, Taxiway Alpha wasn't designed to carry the larger, heavier aircraft that are now in service. The critical nature of the taxiway as a route for traffic on and off Runway 1 saw a project complete last month to restore its surface. Works included laying 6,000 tonnes of asphalt, 700 tonnes of pavement quality concrete and replacing 50 halogen lights with low energy. Completing complex projects of this nature, whilst maintaining a live airport operation, require a significant amount of planning and collaboration amongst many stakeholders including airfield operations, asset maintenance and NATS.

The summit commenced with an insightful address from Manchester Airport's Managing Director Chris Woodroofe, setting the stage for discussions on enhancing connectivity and driving economic growth across the region. This was followed by MAG (Airports Group)'s Chief of Staff, Tim Hawkins, sitting on a panel focused on building prosperity through strategic infrastructure development, whilst Head of Environmental, Social & Governance, Adam Freeman, contributed to a panel discussion about aviation sustainability.
