Just completed the course "Escape Debt Trap" offered by Ilm Institute. Knowing is half the battle, let's see how I put it to practice in 2023 😂 I thought it would be beneficial and recommend it to everyone regardless of their field. Here's the link to it: https://lnkd.in/gdbv5srQ

What do you do with an old laptop? Most common google search would suggest donating it to someone or recycling it as e-waste. Donating it would really benefit someone especially if he is a student, theres unlimited free / paid content online to learn from. However, my laptop has many issues that I don't feel nice giving it to anyone. - The battery is no longer rechargeable and has to be plugged in at all times (this is the second battery) - The wifi card is spoilt and require a wifi usb dongle - Theres a red line across the screen and using a monitor would be necessary for a better viewing experience. As for recycling it, the amount I can get off it was too little to compensate for the sentimental value. I got this laptop for uni back in 2014 from my father (Allah yarhamhu) and I used it all the way till end of 2021. It was a good 7 years! After further googling, I found a tutorial on installing Truenas to turn it into a Network Attached Storage (NAS). Doing so allows me to savour the 500GB storage making it accessible through any device on my home network. It works great to transfer files to and fro different devices and store things that I dont use often, freeing up space on my other devices. I also came across a tutorial to install Searx, a free and open source search engine that offers a level of anonymity in comparison to other search engines. Its kinda like having your own google search server at home. All search history / logs are under your control. Attached is what it looks like running your own repurposed laptop as a NAS storage and private search engine. Its been running for couple of months now 24/7 without fail. When it does, then I'll consider recycling it for good. I do have the same data replicated in my google drive from time to time. Anyone need to repurpose their old laptop can give it a try with the following tutorials: NAS: https://lnkd.in/grU-QBrb Searx: https://lnkd.in/gfdxakgg p/s: I know it looks ugly, don't ask why it's upside down

What?? Iya, pembelajaran dijalankan melalui 'peer-to-peer learning'.

Alhamdulillah. Thank you ALLAH for everything you have given me knowingly and unknowingly. Just collected my Bachelors scroll this week. I have always thought that graduation ceremonies were a bit unnecessary; with the amount of money spent, singing to the multiple songs, and long formalities (can't get your scroll till event day even if you completed your study in the beginning of the year). My idea of a graduation is perhaps just a dinner out with the family. Unfortunately, with the travel restrictions, not only there was no graduation ceremony, there was no family dinner that I imagined. (my family is just across the Straits of Johor) That being said, I am truly grateful for all the family support. It was a long journey. I took a year of study leave. Switched universities. I did not take PTPTN despite the temptation for a quick way out. My sister used to say, don't quit just yet, we are here for you. Once you get the scroll, you are free to do whatever you like. I guess this is it. I am free man now. No student loan on my shoulders. The journey has just begun. It's time to give back to the family and hopefully society at large. The aim is to work for the after life. Let the infinite game begin!

Alhamdulillah, the 5 courses under the Google IT Support Professional has taught me a lot of things that our computers can do that I never thought of. I also learnt how to better manage a fleet of computers in an enterprise environment. Special thanks to Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) for the Let's Learn Digital campaign. I shall make use of the remaining months to learn something new! #MyDigitalWorkforce
Google IT Support Professional Certificate was issued by Coursera to Munif bin Faiz Bafana.

Against all odds, Akhuwat has given out interest-free loans worth more than 600 million USD. The banking system of today gives out cheap loans to the "credit worthy" and further enriching the rich. The unbanked rely on loan sharks that charge exorbitant rates digging them deeper into poverty. Realising this, Akhuwat has become the world's largest Islamic micro-finance organization by providing interest free loans to the economically poor so that they may acquire a sustainable livelihood. They institutionalize the use of local religious places (mosque, temples, churches) as operation centers creating a sense of goodwill amongst the community and minimizing operational expenditure. The funds rely on donations/charity and is theoretically not sustainable. However, the numbers tell a different story. Loan recipients that benefited from this end up becoming donors to benefit others and the funds just keep on growing. That is the miracle of Qard-ul-hassan!
Akhuwat has been successfully climbing up the ladder to empower the deprived community by providing them with opportunities through interest free loans. Alhamdulillah, I managed to complete this course just before Ramadan. The main purpose of taking up this course for me was not to be a web developer. I was mainly intrigued with how the different technologies come together to make up a website. Basically how does a website work? From the front end (which is what we see in our browser) to the back end (which is what happens behind the scenes), databases (that stores the information) and servers(that responds to user requests and keeps the website accessible to anyone with internet). Throughout the course I have learnt to use HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap 4, DOM Manipulation, jQuery, Unix(Command Line) Commands, NodeJS, ExpressJS, REST, MongoDB, Authentication, PassportJS and more. A website is more complex than it seems and I highly recommend aspiring web developers to take up this course. That being said, learning to write with a pen does not make one a POET. Similarly, learning to code does not make one a PROGRAMMER. Programming is the modern Poetry! A BLESSED RAMADAN TO EVERYONE! MAY ALLAH ACCEPT OUR DEEDS AND GRANT US HIS FORGIVENESS
