#IIO101s… Last time I went to Vegas was in January 2019, for #CES, which I did a few times, and I only spent one day this year, for #CES2024. It was worth the time for BI/O 101 ! As anticipated in the pre-show edition of CES Daily, « the show’s post-pandemic recovery » was in full force, with more than 4,300 exhibitors on 2.4 million square feet of exhibit space for more than 135,000 attendees. Though metrics were still slightly behind the biggest CES, in 2020 (with 4,400 exhibitors and 171,000 attendees at the time), many tech companies and executives made sure to be there to present or meet up, and the themes that dominated the show included #AI, clearly the number one topic, followed by good technologies for #people and the #planet, from transparent TVs and digital health devices to environmental-friendly solutions. The #Metaverse and #XR market popped up on several occasions while #Mobility remained a big theme like in previous years, with the #automobile still front and center, talks of smart cities, and demos of many new #EVs, #autonomous vehicles, or even flying cars… https://lnkd.in/eer2dZbb
Beside Apple who didn’t attend CES but used Monday as an opportunity to announce the launch of the #VisionPro, many firms made an impact at the show, including those who had a keynote, i.e. Siemens, L'Oréal, Walmart, Intel Corporation, Elevance Health, Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차), Qualcomm and Nasdaq, as well as those who were in the spotlight like NVIDIA, AMD, Amazon, Alphabet Inc., Microsoft, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Sony or Honda.
Personally, my favorite firm for CES 2024 was Neurable. I had met the CEO Dr. Ramses Alcaide at VivaTech 2023 in Paris and his mission had really resonated with me, his great headset being at the convergence of consumer technology and health care, with a boost from AI. CES 2024 gave Neurable the opportunity to announce its first headset, and the product received several #CES awards as well as great reviews, like this one… https://lnkd.in/ef5eQTxf
The other firm I’d like to flag favorably is EnéaD, a French startup that I’m following since VivaTech 2023. The positive takeaway came from my discussion in Las Vegas with my friend Tim Long who covers tech stocks at Barclays (note he downgraded #AAPL the week before, which pressured the stock and many other tech stocks that day !). I was telling Tim about EnéaD’s great immersion cooling innovation, the energy it was saving compared to racks cooled by air, when he told me that Dell Technologies had just mentioned selling more servers cooled by liquid in 2024… I think this bodes really well for EnéaD given its recent innovations !

I totally agree with that.

If you take the effort to bring the digital world with #virtualreality, #avatars and #metaverse into the real world design and customization phase of an airplane. Why stop there ?
Recently Airbus announced it would use virtual reality early on in the design and customization phase with its customes (the airlines - https://lnkd.in/e-KZN6y7). As some of the benefits are clear from the video, my question would be: "Why stop there ?"
Why not take it one step further to:
1. Interact directly with the end customers (you and I, who take an airplane for business or leisure). What is it we would like to see different. Where could we add more tangible information concerning the topic that interests us on a personal level. If for instance I design my #avatar to my real life person. I could show to Airbus what is to be more than 2m tall. Maybe designing an airplane that allows a limited amount of the seating that is adjustable for taller people to travel more convenient. And that can be used differently if there are no tall people on board.
2. Let me as a person improve the experience in advance of my trip. Let my #avatar onboard the plane. Put away the trolley I most of the time bring onboard and take a seat. It would take away, in advance, with a lot of people the check-in and onboarding stress (Will my trolley fit in the overhead compartment ? - Is the seat I have, suited for travelling with young infants or should I book another place? ...)
3. It allows Airbus to bring the biggest added value in the design early on closer to the final customer. How strong would it be if the traveling customer only will fly an #a320 and not another plane.
Integrating the virtual world into the real world we should have the courage to look beyond the present set-up and business models. There are way more possibilities to turn existing business supply chains upside down.

Two fantastic days at #ces2024, meeting inspiring people from around the world who are crafting cutting-edge products. The most captivating products for me were some of the amazing concept vehicles and the Supernal #airtaxi!
I learned so much, but the biggest takeaway for me was this: If you come up with a new product idea, it’s likely someone has not only thought of it but also built at least a cool prototype (and probably showcased it at CES :)), bought majority of them we never see enter the market or become popular.
This realization reinforced my belief that no matter how great your idea, at the end execution is key and exceptional customer experience is what will help you win 🏆
