Emirates Makes Aviation History with Record-Breaking $52 Billion Wide-Body Aircraft Order at Dubai Airshow 2023 Emirates opened the Dubai Airshow 2023 with a significant order for 95 additional wide-body aircraft, taking its total order book to 295 aircraft. Already the world’s biggest operator of wide-body passenger aircraft, Emirates has committed to additional Boeing 777-9s, 777-8s, and 787s, worth US$ 52 billion, to power its growth plans, maintain a modern efficient fleet, and deliver the best flying experience to its customers. Emirates has also updated its previous order of 30 Boeing 787-9s, increasing its commitment to a total of 35 Dreamliners comprising: 15 Boeing 787-10s, and 20 Boeing 787-8s. Boeing Company BA shares are trading higher by around 3% after it announced winning contracts from several Middle Eastern airlines Monday during the Dubai Airshow. The company penned two deals with UAE's major airline operators for its widebody jets.Boeing won an order for 90 777X airplanes, including 55 777-9 and 35 777-8 jets, from Emirates.The new order will increase Emirates' 777X family backlog to 205 planes.The UAE's prominent airline operator is also buying five more 787 jets, boosting its 787 backlog to 35 while converting 30 787-9s to 20 787-8 and 10 787-10 airplanes.Boeing has a strong relationship with Emirates, with its fleet having nearly 150 777 jets.Also, flydubai ordered 30 787-9 Dreamliners from Boeing to diversify its fleet by introducing widebody jets.flydubai airline operates an all-737 fleet of 79 airplanes with an order backlog of 137 addition, Boeing won an order for four 787-9 Dreamliner jets from another Middle East Airline company, Royal Jordanian.Reported By Benzinga

flydubai expands ACMI capacity due to Boeing MAX delays flydubai (FZ, Dubai International) has entered into a new wet-lease agreement with Smartwings (Czechia) (QS, Prague Václav Havel) for six B737-800s, it revealed in its 2023 annual results. The new deal, the third of its type between both carriers, is due to “ongoing challenges with the aircraft manufacturer’s delivery schedule,” which resulted in four fewer jets being delivered in 2023. #flydubai has 130 B737-8s on order. It received 13 last year, down from 17 in 2022. So far, it has taken only one of the type in 2024. CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said the airline hoped to take a further eleven by the end of the year. Akasa Air placed an order for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at Wings India 2024. This also marks the biggest order placed by a commercial airline at Wings India Airshow. As per news reports the order has a mix of the -10 variant and the 8-200 variant of the MAX. The order comes in as a significant milestone for the airline with its third aircraft order since it started operations 17 months back. In 2022 it placed an order for 72 aircraft and another 4 at the Paris air show in 2023. The airline ended up 2023 with a market share of 4% and 22 aircraft in its fleet. It recently announced flights to Ayodhya,it’s 18th destination from Pune and Delhi. The airline is also in works to launch its International operations with flights mostly to Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The new order makes a significant progress not just to India’s aviation but also to the country’s low cost airline market. What would be interesting is how Akasa expands into the Tier-2 market which is the perfect landscape for a LCC.
