New robot day! This time we have a beefy FANUC America Corporation R-2000iC, which is rated for moving 165kg of payload with +/- 0.05 mm accuracy. Using this robot as the main component, we are building a multi-process system for one of our awesome Western Canada manufacturing customers to make their production safer and more productive. #automation #fanuc #kelowna #robotics

Automate 2024...It's going to be a great week in Chicago! We're looking forward to catching up with everyone and more importantly seeing all the great new stuff that we can incorporate into our systems. The products offered by the automation sector are endlessly evolving and we always get to come back with a few new great products or ideas that add functionality, help us solve a new customer problem or just make things a little more slick. We'll be at the show or hanging out on the north side of the river until Friday morning so give us a shout if you want to meet up.

Super proud of this one! We designed and built the film application tool from scratch and supplied everything from the rollcase conveyors to the paint booth. Let me tell you...successfully applying a thin adhesive film to a 20 meter long not-perfectly-flat slab of wood has a few challenges! The whole robot cell is 171 feet long and the panels themselves can weigh in excess of 20,000 pounds.
We're excited to highlight a great addition to our operations at Kalesnikoff Mass Timber: the Sync Robotics line. Tailor-made for our unique operational needs, this technology is a significant step in our journey of innovation.

This is a pretty cool one...it's a protective film application system. The tool configuration and robot paths are generated parametrically from customer database info on the fly, as each infed part is very different and there are thousands of different parts that could be loaded at any time. It's absolutely mesmerizing to watch it run. We also designed and built the actual process equipment (not shown in the pic) from scratch. I think both the controls and mechanical teams knocked it out of the park in terms of quality.
It's never been busier! We've shipped 5 unique robotic systems since Dec 1st, and meanwhile have kicked off the next 4 upcoming builds in our shop. Here's one we just installed in record time, which includes a custom 7-axis servo tool, a custom-built film-dispensing machine, custom-built conveyors, and a beefy FANUC America Corporation R-2000iC/210L robot to tie it all together. This system offers a spectacular return-on-investment for our customer while simultaneously improving production rate and quality. Are you considering an automation investment but unsure about capital costs, service/support, and cobots vs robots? We can definitely help! #robotics #automation #fanuc #igus #beckhoff #keyence #festo

One of the nice things about these smaller systems is they come together (relatively) quickly! This one was approx 8 weeks from first parts arriving to customer acceptance testing.
We're putting the finishing touches on a turn-key, skid-mounted paint system complete with a rotating part fixture, an insulated double-wall Class 1 Div 1 booth, and a FANUC America Corporation Paint Mate 200iA/5L robot suitable for explosive environments. Need a partner to help put the pieces together? Give us a call.

Really happy with how this one turned out. We'll have some more info about the part storage carousel to show off soon but it's heavy-duty, easy to changeover, and 75% of the shelves can be accessed by an operator at any time while the system is running.
This might be the smallest-footprint system we have built to date! This friendly little guy will be keeping an Alberta customer's CNC machine running these 14kg parts for up to 7 hours straight, thanks to the integration of a rotary part storage unit and a dot-peen marking system. Would an extra shift of unattended machine runtime be valuable to your business? Give us a call! #robotics #edmonton #fanuc #machineshop #oilandgas

Hi Network! For the past few days we have heard from many colleagues and friends checking in to see how we are doing here in Kelowna due to the incredibly sudden and severe wildfire that broke out on Thursday. While everyone is safe, I'm sad to report that our senior applications engineer and all-around great guy Calum Macintosh and his wife Erica lost their home when it was burned to the ground by the fast-moving flames. This could not happen to a nicer pair of people. In a bizarre twist of fate, the local news captured it on video. While they are being incredibly stoic about the situation, they will certainly be facing a lot of challenges and additional expenses. I've set up a fundraiser to help Calum, Erica and their 2-year-old son get through the coming weeks a little easier. If you've dealt with us or Calum in the past it would be greatly appreciated if you could signal boost this. It would be great if they had a little less to worry about. Thanks! https://gofund.me/067a3818
