Los fondos de inversión corporativa tienen gran cantidad de desafíos. Estos desafíos se convierten comúnmente en procesos de frustración 🙃 para quienes dirigen las áreas de CVC. Esto porque el perfil de innovación busca romper paradigmas , invertir en tecnologías que potencialmente puedan integrarse a las actuales o futuras líneas de ingreso de la corporación. Algunos de los dolores que comúnmente comparten los colegas son: 1. Falta de experiencia en Venture Capital del equipo operador inicial.  2. Presión por parte de la mesa directiva para demostrar resultados medibles y comúnmente positivos para el área naciente.  3. Demostrar que la estrategia de valor agregado funciona , y que las áreas operativas pueden integrar la innovación que se busca por fuera de la organización. En esta ocasión les compartimos algunos de los casos de éxito de los CVC más experimentados en LATAM. Recordemos que este camino y aun más el de CVC es un trayecto que está creciendo pero son pocos los que tienen grandes historias de éxito para contar. Una de las particularidades que distinguen al CVC es la capacidad de colaboración. Así que para esto ha nacido este blog para dar voz a los líderes que hoy buscan trabajar con startups , así como para ayudar a conectarlos con otros emerging CVC managers a fin de lograr incrementar la experiencia, crear mejores prácticas y consolidar un mercado experimentado en inversiones para CVCs. Major corporations are redoubling efforts both in R&D teams and outward-facing with their open innovation initiatives, aiming to become enablers and builders of infrastructure that facilitate access to these new technologies. During the GCVI Summit innovation leaders from : NVIDIA, Intel Corporation, Qualcomm, Samsung Semiconductor. They provided insights into their investment strategies for Generative AI, sharing some of their most effective practices and outlining their vision for the coming years. While investment in this segment undoubtedly brings benefits, it's crucial to assess environmental risks as well as data control and information security to ensure the efficient use of AI technologies. It's a fact that utilizing these tools increases productivity and process efficiency, as the demand for labor can be met with fewer personnel. However, for this technology to be efficient, it requires high maintenance, cloud systems, cooling, and substantial data processing. Today, it's necessary for public policy to align incentives for the development of this infrastructure and to allow for tax benefits so that private companies can access a greater number of pilot tests of these tools in their business lines, leading to the consolidation of new products and services. #CVCs #GenerativeAI #Corporateventuring #LATAM

These past few days I have been representing Leap Global Partners at the Global Corporate Venturing "GCVI Summit". The GCVI Summit stands out as the premier gathering for corporate innovation leaders across the Americas. General Takeaways: 🤓 great for learning about industry trends in the US, and exploring potential partnerships mostly with the most experienced CVCs and consulting companies 👌 With a robust lineup featuring top-tier corporate venture capital entities such as Aramco Ventures, GV (Google Ventures), CMI Ventures, JetBlue Ventures, GM Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Grupo Bimbo, Rakuten, among others. 📈 Some of the major trend topics dominating discussions among CVCs, as well as areas they are eagerly looking to invest in, include: 🌎 climate-tech solutions 🌾 agro-industry advancements, 💳 fintech's rapidly evolving landscape 📲 semiconductor innovations ♻ fuel derivates 🤖 AI-driven efficiency enhancements, 🔐 Cybersecurity 💻 breakthroughs in computing technologies, and the unexplored territories of biotech and deeptech. Most CVCs are demonstrating a strong inclination to allocate substantial resources toward implementing AI technologies. While progress is visible, it's evident that there's still considerable ground to cover before achieving a mature CVC ecosystem in LATAM. This year less than 1% of the CVCs investments come from Latin America and the Caribbean

El #CVC (Corporate Venture Capital) enfrenta algunos desafíos, entre los cuales destaca la dificultad de equilibrar: el enfoque estratégico del fondo, el tiempo de retorno y el impacto. Así que hoy hablaremos sobre: ¿Cómo equilibrar correctamente la estrategia? ⚖ Hace algún tiempo me tope con un artículo de Michael Nichols quien en resumen considera lo siguiente: • Tiempo: no esperes un impacto en el negocio de hoy y no lo persigas. La mirada cortoplazista no beneficia ni a la organización, ni mucho menos a los proyectos. Así que el CVC se destaca por ser una carrera tipo maratón , no de Sprints. • Enfoque del fondo: se debe lograr equilibrio entre una buena inversión e impacto estratégico. Un ejemplo básico de esto es el ejemplo de Vivo (Telefônica Brasil) quien invirtió en Klubi , en 2 meses vendió más de 5M R$. • Impacto: buenas inversiones alineadas con la estrategia empresarial pueden crear impacto, pero sólo en el futuro. Uno de los mayores desafíos es cómo un CVC define el impacto y el plazo en que desea lograrlo. "El CVC es de hecho una herramienta de percepción del mercado y una base para experimentar con nuevas tesis de innovación estratégica. A través del CVC se puede crear un impacto en la organización y aportar nuevas líneas de negocio para el futuro. Curiosamente, si los corporativos siguen una estrategia de impacto de corto plazo, es muy probable que no lo logren, y corren el riesgo de perder la credibilidad como área. Esto debido a una falta de madurez entre las unidades de negocio y las startups. Llegando a un nivel de inversión con retornos e impactos subóptimos. Si el CVC sólo optimiza su estrategia para obtener únicamente retorno, terminan perdiendo toda esperanza de impacto estratégico. Si se realizan buenas inversiones en startups que estén vinculadas a la tesis mercado de corporativo , aunada a la estrategia interna , es posible experimentar con un beneficio adicional de obtener un retorno saludable, pero no con la expectativa de impacto en el negocio actual sino más bien con el potencial de impacto futuro."
