A daunting experience today at Trou aux Biches Resort representing law firms before the FATF Africa and Middle East Joint Group assesors for their onsite visit which will determine whether Mauritius will exit the grey list by the end of October. Confidentiality prevents disclosure of the exchange but we remain optimistic that Mauritius will make it. The robust implementation of 39 out of the 40 recommendations of the FATF shows that the jurisdiction has sufficiently matured and make amends to be considered for an exit. However, exiting the grey list is not be the end of the road. It marks the beginning of a new journey; that of ensuring we continue to enforce all the measures rigourously. It also means that those who will not comply shall have to bear the brunt of the regulators through severe sanctions to ensure that jurisdiction is not adversely affected. Fingers crossed, come October 2021, we can leave those shades of grey behind and enjoy some well deserved recognition for our island. #fatf #mauritius #appleby #legalsector
fingers crossed indeed! Let's hope for some well-deserved good news for Mauritius.
"Well deserved" - subscribe to this! Thanks for going to bat for us Yahia. Looking forward to the change in perception and general news focus. The past couple of years reminds me of a bee colony. Just as UNESCO found its patron for the bee project with Angelina Jolie - hoping we can find our godfather to ensure that October all-clear becomes a reality!
Good luck Yahia. Hope all goes well.
Saw you there Yahia! You looked determined. 😉. I worked for the same cause for the IO7 and IO8 for the Police. And I can say we made a lot of progress and i hope we get out of the grey list soon.
Let's hope for the best 🇲🇺
Fingers firmly crossed. Best of luck.
All the best Yahia.
In turbulent times it is more than essential for all stakeholders to converge their efforts for the highest good of our country and people. Hoping for the best!
