RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT/Gray News) - A morbidly obese cat wandering the streets of Virginia was rescued by Richmond Animal Care and Control.

The cat, named One Frosty Too Many but going by Frosty for short, is now looking for a forever home.

“We were like, ‘Oh my gosh, look how huge this cat is,’” RACC Outreach Coordinator Robin Young said.

Frosty is triple the normal weight for a cat her size and is on her way to becoming a social media sensation.

“We get emails from all across the country, people that are interested, people that comment,” Young said. “Frosty was brought to us by a concerned citizen who found her as a stray, believe it or not, out and about in the city.”

Named after the popular Wendy’s dessert, Frosty is getting the princess treatment in a room of her own since she’s too big to fit in the standard cages.

“She needs a big room to kind of move around and exercise,” Young said.

Even though her chubbiness is cute, she needs to shed the weight to be healthy and comfortable, according to RACC.

“The more weight she loses, the happier of a cat she’s going to be and the less grumpy she’ll be,” Young said.

RACC was looking for a quiet home and someone with time on their hands and experience caring for cats. Frosty was adopted Wednesday.

“She’s got a double-digit weight loss journey ahead of her,” Young said. “Definitely someone that has a good relationship with her vet, can take her on vet visits, weight updates, some special food, less food, so someone that’s ready to take on that challenge.”

Frosty’s rescue comes shortly after the shelter took in Patches, the 42-pound cat that rose to national fame.

“I feel like Patches last year and this kitty right here, Frosty, are probably the two biggest that we’ve seen,” Young said.
