A number of flights have been cancelled at the Manchester Airport as the country prepares for Storm Isha. Departures and arrivals from London, Scotland and Ireland have seen disruption ahead of the storm.

Storm Isha is set to batter all parts of the United Kingdom with heavy rain and wind forecasted from Sunday evening (January 21). Winds of up to 90mph are expected which will see chaos caused to the roads, transport services and loss of mobile phone signal and power cuts.

Nearly four inches of rain is expected to fall and flood warnings have been placed in areas across England. On Sunday morning, the Met Office upgraded the warnings for most of England - including Greater Manchester - to an amber warning, with significant disruption expected and a 'danger to life'.

Around seven flights have so far been cancelled going in and out of Manchester Airport.

Earlier this afternoon, Manchester Airport announced that there was no 'impact to operations' following the amber warning. Passengers were advised to contact their airline for further information about their flights.

In a statement, Manchester Airport said: "An amber weather warning is in place today for high winds. There is no impact to airport operations.

"Passengers are advised to check with their airline for up-to-date flight information. Road and rail services may be impacted.

"Plan ahead and allow extra time and care for your journey to the airport."

Traffic monitoring system Inrix says: "Delays and cancellation to flights to and from Manchester International Airport due to bad weather. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with their airlines."
