Harry Amass trained with Manchester United's first-team at Carrington on Wednesday, despite being aged just 16 years old.

Amass signed for United from Watford last summer and he's considered one of the most exciting talents in English football. The left-back has made 14 appearances in academy matches this season and he's become a key player in an U18 United side that has won every game in the league.

The youngster trained with the first team on Wednesday afternoon in preparation for Aston Villa and he was joined by Sam Mather (19) and Toby Collyer (20). It's unusual for a 16-year-old to train with the senior group but Amass was selected to make up the numbers.

It's understood Under-21 manager Travis Binnion advises the first-team coaching staff on which youngsters should make the step up when extra numbers are required in training.

Erik ten Hag's assistant coach Mitchell van der Gaag has developed a healthy relationship with Binnion over the last 18 months and he is often the link between the first team and academy.

Amass' performances for the U18s this season have not gone unnoticed and the opportunity to gain senior training experience is the reward for those displays.

Watford were desperate to keep hold of Amass beyond his scholarship deal but United won the race for his signature. The defender will celebrate his 17th birthday next month.

Omari Forson and Willy Kambwala, who were both recently given their debuts, were involved in training again following their promotion to the first-team squad this term.
